:dsm:Can someone please send me a pic or diagram of what plugs and how i am supposed to test the amount of ohms for all, or if you only have to do a cpl of them, for the plugs on top of the fuel pump?? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks (98 GST)

What I'm trying to do is make sure I have power from everything back to the fuel pump. If i have all the correct numbers all the way back to the plugs for the pump, then the pump itself is probably bad. You get ### I'm saying??

IIRC, earlier this year (actually, I think it was in the fall last year) my FP was not working properly either. There were a number of things I tried that were in direct relation to the FP and trying to find a diagnosis. Something you should do is mock up a small car battery charger with two nails. Take the FP completely out of the car and see whether the pump is activating. It should hum when you apply the voltage to the pump. I stopped dicking around with trying to figure out if the source of the problem was the FP and decided to get another FP, so I could eliminate FP failure from the equation.

Mine was somehow becoming stuck for whatever reason. I bought an Evo VIII pump and replaced it (these FPs are very cheap to come by; usually about 40 bucks shipped). These FPs are a direct replacement, as well as a nice upgrade. :) Go on over to EvoM.net and look around.

You do have a voltmeter, right? You could also take off the white plug and use the voltmeter to test the plug and see if you get any readings when attempting to start the car. You just need someone else to help you out so you can focus on the voltage readings.

This is what im talking about, I want to know ### kind of numbers im supposed to get from any of those plugs. Should I only be getting 12 volts??? How many ohms and all as well??

If you check for voltage while cranking, you may not see the full 12 volts. As long as you have a reading somewhere in that vicinity, that means you are getting power to the pump.

Sounds good. Is there any way that you can check to see if you're getting a good signal though... like telling the fuel pump when to turn on, without having the fuel pump hooked up.( just checkin the wires??)
