Where is the fuel pump relay in my car?

i have a 90 TSI.

if possible a picture?

Most of the relays are located in the fuse box under the hood on the passenger side

i didnt see it? the fuse box cover doesnt signify a fuel pump relay.

My apologies, If my memory serves me correctly the Fuel pump relay/ MPI are one and the same located under the dash near the ECU. Here's what it looks like:

that thread is for a 95, but the parts are identical and its in the same location.

i found the MPI relay it was on the possitive for the battery.

Thats the MPI fuse, not the relay

The MPI relay is right under the radio bolted on the passenger side. Sorry I do not have any pics, but remove the passenger side panel where the center console leads to and you should see a little gold box held on by 2 bolts. Hope this helps.

You have to pull out the carpeted kick panel on the passenger side of the center console. First, remove the circular plastic covers (if you have them) then remove the phillips screws they conceal, pull out the carpeted panel and you should see something similar to this:

You will then see several gold 10mm bolts. If I remeber correctly, 2 will be to your ECU, 1 will be a ground, 2 will be holding the MPI/MFI in place, and the others just bolt the plate to the chassis.

Its not hard to find. passenger side kick panel, I wanna say its only 3 bolts holding it on. If your trying to check it you might be able to hear it click on/off if you listen close enough. Is there a reason your trying to locate it?

I'm still lost. If its a lean condition I wouldn't check the relay first. Forgive me but its been a long day and coffee isn't doing its job

thats what im doing before i jump straight to fuel pump. but how do i check the relay?

wes did a boost leak test and compression test the other day, brand new wires and plugs.

I noticed in your pics you have a 2g MAF on a bone stock car. If that is the case then that is the reason you are running lean as the 2g MAF is bigger than the 1g MAF.

Whenever man, 2pm sounds good to me. But like reefman said, that 2g MAF is what's causing the majority of the lean running condition. You could install dual Bosch 344lph fuel pumps and still be running lean since the ECU is what controls fuel, not the pump. So I'd start looking for a 1g MAF to swap back in or 550cc injectors to richen things up. We aren't going to get far with that 2g MAF being untuned.

WEll the stuttering started because of the 1g maf ####ing everything up when it went bad. it was running lean before i thought about a 2g maf swap.

the stuttering is what im trying to fix cause of how it looses power when it stutters. its been doing it for a while since the 1g maf went bad. when i put the 2g in pretty much everything got fixed accept the stuttering
