fuel pressure solenoid

Got a 96 gst yesterday. check engine light was on. ran a scan and it came up p1105, fuel pressure solenoid failure. when I get on the car, about the time the turbo starts to spool the car loses all power and sometimes surges a little. can anyone confirm this is the problem and if so is there a cheap fix for this. my research found it seems to be a common problem.

I'd say just replace it. Not sure if theres a way to test it. Actually, i think you can bypass it. You can just run a vacuum line directly from your Intake Manifold to your fuel pressure regulator. Then just loop or cap the nipples on the FPS.
