Fuel Gauge Broken!

Well I just bought a 1990 Talon Tsi AWD with a broken fuel gauge. I tested the sending unit with an ohm meter and it read 72 ohms which is about right, I have about half a tank right now. So what else could be the problem? The gauge itself?

If your sending unit is working fine, my bet is that it would be the gauge itself. Take your gauge cluster apart CAREFULLY and make sure nothing is broken behind the needle itself. You might have broken a spring in there or something.
