Hey guys im replacing my fuel filter because the guy workign on my car said the MAS isnt the problem for my bucking and stuttering it's just a crapped out fuel filter is there a way to just fit a better flowing fuel filter onto my car or should i just stick with a stock replacement one

also my car has been running on 10 PSI since i've gotten it, and im wondering if after i install the boost controller if the extra 4-6 PSI will make a noticable difference??? im not going past 16 because of stock fuel supply and internals. and ill be running it at 14 and leave it there unless i fel the urge to up it the extra 2 my main question is will the extra 4 make a noticable difference, and then rasing it an extra 2 will i notice the extra 2 lbs??? just curious as to what to expect in performance gains from a simple manual BC

any info will be great thanks in advance

steve i thought you were running 14lbs not so long ago, was the gauge u got inaccurate or what? just weird you were at 14-15 lbs and now your at 10

Just wanted to add that after reading this post and having the same problem I bought a Fram fuel filter and replaced mine(bottom bolt is a bi***!!!!!!!!!!!) Now my car feels sooooooooooo much better and it fixed my bucking-stuttering problem completely.

16psi won't be a problem for the stock internals - they can handle around 500 horsepower.:thumb:

i read if you go over 16 with stock injectors you start to lean out and burn out the rings???

but yeah tim the boost guage i got is crap and when i tightened the fitting it made it read 15-16...when the stock guage on the dash reads 10 and before i retightened it it said it was reading 10 PSI on the aftermarket boost guage so i just need one that wont be that touchy or just loosen the fitting on the guage i have

im gunna order that fuel filter adapter so i can just slap an inline style filter to it later on just to make it easier :thumb:

The 1G fuel filter is A LOT easier to gain access to then the 2G. I replaced the fuel filter on my friends 92 GSX, it's located not too low on the firewall. When I did it, I didn't have trouble accessing the lower fitting at all.

Fast forward to two days ago, I finally did mine. The filter is in the same general area as on the 1G but it is lower on the firewall (or it might just seem lower with all the crap in the way). Anyways I was able to squeeze my arm through the shifter cables (which hurt like hell) and positioned my 14mm combination on to the lower fitting. Then I put a ratchet with a 19mm socket on the banjo bolt and used that to steady the filter, then cracked the lower fitting loose. After I cracked it loose I proceded to do the tedious job of loosening it which took me forever to do. Then cracked loose the banjo bolt, and removed the bracket.

When I went to put the new filter on, I realized that I wasted about 15min loosening the lower fitting because I could've just completely removed everything on leaving only the lower fitting, and could've just twisted the filter to remove the fitting. Anyways, I then put back the banjo bolt, easy. Put everything back on, started it to see if there were any leaks...there were. That put me back about 30min trying to fix but I eventually stopped the leak.

I don't know if there is anything to notice from changing the fuel filter, I didn't have any fuel cut or boost problems prior but I figured that I should do it since I haven't replaced it yet. I'm getting some new BPR7s on Fri, so I'm ready to put those on since I haven't replaced them since Dec 2003 and I've had an accidental low octane gas pumped into my tank. Now I just need to fix my master and slave cylinder leak, and I'll be good...for the meantime.
