First of all, this thing has 1 screw in it, do I turn it to the left or to the right to further cancel out fuel cut? Also, this looks to be a cheep ebay unit on this car but I saw some that are more expensive, are any of you using a fcd for your 420aT? Need some advice here. I can't seem to get this thing to stop hitting fuel cut.

fcd is an ebay unit and a truely worthless. for the time being id advise turning down the boost to eliminate fuel cut, or purchase a fuel manigment unit such as aem. apexi also makes very good fuel/air controllers that will also help resolve your issue

fuel cut is there for 2 things. 1 being you eather got to much boost for your setup and need tone it down. Or you need more fuel for your setup. That's how I always look at it. Don't try to cut out a good fail safe and try drive like that know it's not healty for the car. I use to have a boosted 420a awhile ago don't cut it cheap man you need do it right. I would check out the 420a section there's alot good info get you setup.

How much boost are you trying to run? Similiar to what clipto said, the failsafe is there for a reason, it would NOT be wise to try to bypass....if you really want to run on the ragged edge, trying getting a slightly larger pump, or rewire the existing, to supply more fuel.

Here's the deal, the car used to run great on 20 psi. IT has always had a safcII, and fuel cut defender. The motor is built, it has a walbro 255 and 4g63 injectors. Right now, the car wont even accelerate unless all the fuel settings at each rpm point are set 50%+ rich on high throttle and extremely lean on low throttle setting. I know I need to pressurize the intake manifold to properly adjust the fcd but I have no way of doing this. Btw the car is still set to 20 pounds of boost, I am going to bring it down to 12 psi for now. But it has always run on 20 psi, there is something else wrong.

I've never seen any E-bay knock offs of the FCD.....

The HKS fuel cut denfender is a tried and trued piece of equipment thats designed to allow for the fuel cut to remain on the management system with the ability to bump it's limit up- Thats why theres a potentiometer there. If anything visit HKS's web site to get the info on the FCD and insite to the installation and tuning recommendations they make for the use of the device. The origional reason the FCD was developed was because when most cars hit boost cut the computer was cutting fuel and causing a temperature spike in the combustion chamber which could bring on detonation and preignition at high rpm. The FCD's job is simply to allow an adjustable bump in boost cut and prevent the spike in temps that could potentially damage the engine. Just because it's an antiquated piece of equipment that most factory turbo cars no longer utilize doesn't mean thats it some cheap Ebay B.S. that woudn't work on a 420A Turbocharged platform. In fact it may just be that after some years of use it has finaly failed and needs to be replaced-

O.P. I have a BNIB HKS FCD and I think the wiring diagrams and tuning recommendations are still in the box. If for any reason you can't find the info from HKS P.M. me I'll see if I can dig up my scanner and scan the info into my computer and send it to you-

Good luck with it-

Thanks ton man, im gonna look now.

btw its called a SymTech Labs Fuel Cut Defender and it was just installed on the car a few weeks ago. it replaced the old one that was on it.

Stee420aT, there is so much misinformation in this thread. First and foremost, 420a's have a 1 bar MAP sensor. Once they see boost (positive pressure) the ECU is going to cut fuel at the injectors. I don't care if you're running 3 or 4lbs boost. Our MAPS aren't designed to see boost.

As much as I appreciate their help, 4g63 guys simply spread misinformation. What most of these guys said is true, but not for our setup. Simple as that.

The symtech labs FCD is a great piece of equipment. Plus they offer great support.

Also, the FCD clamps voltage, and stops the ECU from cutting fuel, due to the 1bar MAP sensors our cars have.
