I hit a pothole so hard yesterday it slammed my upper control arm so that it got caught on a weld on the body and would not come down. The tire was rubbing on the body and smelled nice.... Oh well it's fixed now. :p

sk8er -

You are doing no-one any good - least of all yourself - by looking for a on-line fight with me and/or selectively reading what has been posted.

Please take a look at my reply to the simplistic post about CG height. If you don't understand why having lateral control arms that angle up to the wheel is bad for performance, or why not having some extra travel before you hit the bumpstops can cause unpredictable understeer at the limit, or why having hugely different roll center heights (front vs rear) can make the car hard to drive, then either ask (nicely) for a tutorial or do a google-search and read up on the issue.

What don't you understand about this is stupid and it's getting old. If I cared about going around corners fast then maybe I would be a little nicer but thats not the issue here so lets just chill.

There are three different types of people on this board. The ones who want to go fast and the ones who want to look good and the ones that have both. Sk8er obviously just wants to look good in a ghettoed out sort-of way. If he wants his car slammed let him do what he wants. He won't be able to handle his car but it's his choice. There are tons of people on this board that just do stupid shit to there cars, just take a look at the gallery. There is no taste at all in some people. But who cares all you can do is give them friendly advice and move on. :thumb:

Ok, my car is not "slammed" I have like one inch wheel gaps.

It's low yeah but the wheels are not tucked so I don't know what you guys think is slammed but I didn't think it was this.

I'm sorry it is low as hell but it's not completely slammed. All i can say is get the adjustable ball joints b/c i will be doing the same very soon. Just realize what JToby was trying to say with how the suspension works. He is right but that is not what your concerned with. Adjustable ball joints are the only way to go if you don't want to bang out the inside of your fenders. Good Luck!!:thumb:

jtmcinder you are way out of line. All he was trying to do is get some help and you have to come in and tell him that what he is doing is wrong and that you dont agree with it? If he wanted to know what you thought about how lowering the car will effect its performance I think he would have asked for your opionon on that matter. All he wanted was help. Lay off. Everybody has their own opionions and taste. Not everybody is going to think like you.

Unless you are going to help the man I suggest you keep your comments to yourself and save yourself the embarassment.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree and I'd love for a moderator to come in and settle this. I was under the impression that this board was for discussing performance mods. Therefore, I thought that it was completely appropriate to jump in and point out why what was being done will not make the car handle better and could very well make it handle less well. (If you want inappropriate, I'd take a look at what sk8ter did to my name, as if my sexual orientation has anything to do with how well my car handles.)

If you read all of my posts, early on I lamented the fact that there are not separate forums for performance mods and cosmetic mods. I've been around long enough to know that people do not like being told that their pretty DSM is mostly show and not much go. But, again, I read the blurbs on what this board is supposed to be about and felt that it was fine for me to step in and explain why what was being done was not the right way to go, and why some of the logic being used was not the right way to think about getting a 2G to handle well.

If you want there to be a forum where cosmetic suspension mods can be discussed without someone stepping in and saying "but that will not make the car handle better," then maybe you, too, should ask that separate forums be created.

- Jtoby

Thats not even the point I am trying to make. All he did was ask for help and you started in about how lowiering the car will affect its performance handaling wise. It just seemed to me that you were trying to make him feel stupid. Thats not what this place is about. We are supposed to answer peoples questions, not critize them or their cars based on our own opionions.

Then why does this board have a forum called Non-Performance mods? And why doesn't this forum say Suspension Performance mods? I was under the impression that you could ask any question relating to anything suspension-related in this forum.

Read the Posting Guidelines.

Read, especially, the part in bold that says "Performance is King."

This is where I got my impression.

LOL

Sk8er, it does look better without the big gap, but for some reason it makes your wheels look tiny...maybe it's just the camera angle. Do you still have your stock springs? Maybe you should put them back so you don't hurt your car anymore till you decide what to do.

OH MY GOD!! Jtoby, you just posted something that isn't preformance related. We had better report this to a moderator.

Thread reported...if you guys want to bicker and argue do it somewhere else...thats not what this forum is for...I answered the ####ing question in the first damn post...

Sk8er07999:You asked a tech question. Jtoby gave you tech advice. He is also someone that has screwed around endlessly with suspension bits and pieces for a lot longer than you have had your car 'slammed'.

Nothing Jtoby said was innacurrate and therefore taking attitude with him was uncalled for. When you post a question, expect all kinds of answers. And if you can't handle that....

Jtoby: Unlike the autocross boards, many people here ask questions to resolve issues they inflicted on themselves, rather than researching before hand. Their quest is not to in fact to find the best performance solution, but rather the easiest solution to perform. Keep that in mind going forward.
