Well I wanted to make a few mods to my front bumper for a few reasons...

1. I wanted to get some air flowing to the radiator and engine bay with the new setup because it gets hot quick in there (nothing new to anyone here)

2. Always liked the look of the upper part of the bumper of my Evo 9's with the big opening and Mitsu emblem.

3. Wanted to open up the FMIC opening, but never liked the look after cutting black section - always left that "hacked" look on the sides.

Anyway, here are a few pics. The first is an angle shot to try to show the mesh. It's hard to see on the lower section since the FMIC overpowers it, which is fine with me.

The second pic is how it looks today.

The third is a quick Photoshop with the Mitsu emblem I ordered to see what it will look like in a couple days.

Overall, I'm pretty happy. I know it's not exactly perfect, but I like it. And I figured if I didn't, mine wasn't perfect to begin with and a new one from Ebay is only about $125 shipped :D

Not sure if I like it or not. Can you get a picture of more of the car so we can kind of see the whole thing?

Not right now - didn't get any more of the whole thing.

I'm sure I'll get A LOT of people not liking it, but it was something i wanted to try. Like I said, if after a while I don't like it I'll just buy a new bumper cover

Well, it is different and interesting. I have thought about doing this too before. But I think when you get a chance, a whole car view, maybe a slight side angle, would allow us to get the whole effect.

Yeah, I'll get some more pics when I pull it out of the garage. Thanks!

Hmmm...I kinda of like it. I wouldnt do it to my car..but if I saw you drivin down the road I'd probably take a quick look at it. Its different without being too different. I dont liek it too much with emblem either..but like other people said a full body pic would help give me the full picture.

I kinda like it. Prob would have left a little plastic still in the middle myself but I'm looking to do something similar.

its different I'll give you that, but I would have to so no with the emblem

Yeah I agree..the more I look at the pic with the emblem the less I like it. Keep it clean..go no emblem.

Thanks...I'll take a pic when I actually get the real emblem instead of the Photoshop. In person, it just looks like it needs the emblem, but maybe once I get I won't feel the same??

We'll see.

Well if the emblem you got is a big white one like that..I dont think it looks that good. But maybe a smaller red one would be better. Idk it all depends on what you think looks good.

^^^^yup yup i agree. a samller one just like the original that comes with it would look neater.

BUT yeah, give him credit for trying something new. :thumb::thumb:

Home depot has that mesh.. It's hard plastic, and for rain gutters or something? I remember seeing it before.. And he's cut it on an angle rather then square.

The emblem I ordered is silver.

The mesh is a roll of square metal chicken wire from Lowe's turned diagonally.

I think it looks good. Have you noticed lower coolant temps? I might try this if my car runs too hot with the fmic.

Thanks. Haven't driven it yet - just finished it yesterday.

How sturdy is the bumper now? Does it move at all when driving?

Nope - doesn't move at all because I still retain the crash bumper and the styrofoam. The upper hole didn't need any trimming of the crash bumper at all - I only trimmed the lower section more for a bigger FMIC opening.
