ok so I just put in a new transmission in my 94 talon tsi fwd with abs got every thing back together and now it seems that my front brakes are sticking.when I went to put them on the calipers would not fit over the roters so I compressed the piston in so it would fit.The car sat for about three months and before it sat the brakes worked fine.I dont know a whole lot about brakes and even less about abs so besides bleeding the im not sure what to do.If anyone has any pointers on this problem please let me know thanks.

wow thats it know one else has any other ideas on this I would of thought some one would know something on this.I think its something with the abs at one point the brakes are free and then as you spin the wheel about 180 and they start to stick are abs roters thicker at one point.it seem like the brakes are not relaxing enough at that one point. This really sucks I just put in my brand new transmission and cant even drive the dam thing because the front brakes are stucking!so if anyone knows anything about this please let me know.:banghead:

This has nothing to do with the ABS.

It looks like your rotors are pretty rusty. Your pads may be grabbing that rotor rust. Have you tried taking the car for a short slow drive to try and get the rust off? If it still sticks, you may need to grease the calipers. And if it still sticks, you may need new to rebuild the calipers.

like I said when you try to drive the car it moves about two feet with no problem no noise nothing but then when the pads meet the roters at that certain point it locks the front wheels up when you start the car the abs light stays on.So what I have done is loosend up the two bolts that hold the caliper on and when you spin the roter with or without the wheel on you can see the caliper move like there is a wobble some how.Keep in mind its the same on both sides.

x2. although it did look like there was a rock or something stuck in between the pad and the rotor. this may be a silly response but its not in gear when you try to move it is it? try taking the pads out mount it and try to push the car. i don't understand why it would just stop. you need to get some brakeleen and spray your brakes down real nice. you said you pressed the piston in the caliper i would assume your piston works fine then if you didn't see any rust or tears in the boot. hmmm, you have me thinking now, but i still doubt it has anything to do with your ABS even though your light stays on. The only thing the dsm bible says that i didn't think of was contaminants in your brake lines. Good Luck:thumb: how hard did u try pushing the car after it stopped? after its been sitting you don't have wheel chalks do ya? LOL clean your brakes with brakeleen

My ABS light is on right now too. It's not the cause of your troubles.

The rotors are the same for cars with and without ABS.

If it only rolls 2 feet before locking the front wheels in a FWD car, I'd look into a transmission issue. Especially since you said you just put the new transmission in.

That was my first thought that something might be binding up but when you loosen the two bolts that hold on the caliper keep in mind same thing on both sides you can spin it freely because at the point where the pads start to contact with the roters with the bolts loose you can see the calipers move left to right like theres a wobble in the roter but when the bolts are tight the calipers dont have that play so it locks up the brakes.what I cant figure out is what is causing this.I thought it might be the lugs not tightened equally but thats not it either.I dont think I missed anything when I put it back together but obviously somethings not right.Sorry if its confusing but its kind of a weird problem thats hard to explain.

There isn't anything really you can forget when putting the brakes back on. i'll take a look at my brakes tomorrow after a job interview. it will most likely be around 5 oclock or so when i'll be back. hope you can wait! i'm so impatient myself. heeehee.

p.s. i have a key to your wheel locks. They must be pretty common. also take more pix of both sides, with the wheel off since your there.

Is the rotor on all the way? Take it off and clean where it attaches to the hub to make sure nothing it stuck behind it. Maybe they're warped.

Yeah, if they are wobbling like that you must have something stuck behind the rotors making them not be able to sit flush. Take the rotors off and clean any rust that might have got trapped behind the rotors. I would think it would be something like that over the warped rotor theory. Those things would have to be run over with a dump truck to be making the wheels lock up like that.LOL

Hey I want to thank you guys for trying to help me on this, today I figured out what was going on.I really dont want to say but maybe someone out there will make the same mistake and this might help them.when I put the brakes and roters back together I overlooked the fact that there is two extra holes in the roters where two bolts go thats why the roters where so far off.

thanks guys shes just about ready to hit the streets new 14b new transmission from jacks and a few bolt ons cant wait:hellyeah:
