well it sucks because in the manifold test all the info about it was thrown out. and the charts shown have no numbers on the charts so ya really can't tell anything about the test anyway. go figure. so of course there's no way to really compare it to other manifolds with hard proof of numbers unless they do another test (which i'm guessing wouldn't happen anytime soon).

so anyway, it's the one i've never looked at cause i figured it just wouldn't look all that great. but then i saw some pics of them installed in people's cars and was surprised at how good it actually looked in there and it sparked my curiousity. so i'm trying to research it but there's really not a lotta info out there about them.

but i guess i'll just ask a few questions that i'm curious about and i guess if it starts a big discussion about this manifold, fine and dandy.

i have no emissions and only have vacuum lines for my bov, fuel pressure regulator (put in a t-fitting for the boost gauge), and brake booster. so do i have to go and buy the fittings i need and tap them myself? or some already supplied? any already tapped? what about the brake booster line since it's bigger?

i have a dejon front mount with gm maft and blow thru setup with the pipes. if i bought the pipe from dejontool that's meant for their intake mani, instead of the stocker, would that solve any i/c pipe problems? maybe?

also, what other problems might i encounter during install? i saw some website about a guy who installed one and for some reason had to adjust his timing right after the install and tps and a bunch of other stuff i just can't see needing to be done. don't see why i'd need to mess with my timing and not guessing my tps would need to be changed. anyway, good ideas about the coil mounting would be nice :D

i'm buying cams on the 1st and the mani will be right after that if i go with it. also, is there any negatives about this manifold other than weight? i just can't find much info on it but not finding many bad comments about it other than weight.

Hey, I don't have a ton of answers for you, as I never actually installed the one I have, and if I did, it still wouldn't help as it was going on a 4g63 in a Conquest. However I can tell you a bit about the manifold itself.

On the plenum tank, it has one Large tapped hole (for a booster hose, it seems) and then three smaller ones for your vacuum lines. It also has a nitrous bung pre-tapped into each runner (and these actually come with block offs as well). The holes for the throttle cable mount are also tapped holes that go all the way through, so if it were neccessary, one could use those holes as well I suppose!

The manifold also comes with a LARGE (I'm talkin like over an inch) thick phelonic spacer, and new intake manifold studs and nuts.

I wish I could use mine, since I can flip the plenum around for the RWD application to get the TB to face the other way, but unfortunately it will not clear my master cylinder. As far as installation into an actual DSM, I have no idea on how tough it is or what problems you might encounter. I do know this manifold is definitely good, as a guy here in Wichita runs 10's on it.

Oh, and you can order these from FRH fitted for either a DSM TB or BBK.

And if you do decide to go ahead and buy one, just let me know since I need to sell mine! (Shameless plug!) $500 shipped! Retails for $599 plus shipping! ;) :D

guessing no one has heard about one of these blowing out like a sheetmetal intake can under boost? also, i know this is a 2 piece unit (not including the spacer). so if it's taken apart, what's used in the middle? a reuseable rubber gasket? some other gasket? if i take it apart, i don't need to buy any gaskets right?

oh and last thing, everyone keeps talking about the weight of it. has anyone bothered to weigh one of these compared to a sheetmetal intake, and stock intake?

I talked to Dale Forrester himself when I ordered this manifold, and asked him about the plenum gasket. He said the gasket should be fine to reuse, but that you might want to use a little RTV when resealing it.

As for the weight, it is pretty heavy. But I mean, its a big ass cast intake manifold, hehe. I need to buy a scale to weigh some heads for shipping, so I'll weigh this while I'm at it, and let you know.

nice pics of the intake. wish i could see down the hole where the throttle plate mounts though. some close up pics so you can see how the inside looks and all. outside looks pretty nice though. one question though. i see that the holes are tapped, does it come with any fittings to put in there? no biggie but just wondering.

You'll have a choice of TBs. I've seen an Accufab 70mm that leaked like a MFer. You could feel the air coming out of both sides of the shaft with your hand during a pressure test. It might have been a bad one but you should be aware.

guessing you already have to know which one you're gonna use before you buy it right? i'm just sticking with the stock one. don't forsee me needing to upgrade that anytime soon.

another question i forgot to ask......dang it. do you HAVE to go with a smaller battery? or will the stock one do? just wondering cause i have abs and the piping is already right up against that. dunno that it can be pushed to the side anymore than it already is without just getting rid of my abs but abs has been my friend and i'd like to keep it.
