Just did a 6-bolt swap on my '97 GST:

-JE 9:1 Pistons
-2g head w/ 1g cams
-No Balance Shafts
-Prothane Mounts, etc . . .

The base idle is set @ 5* using DSMLink and the curb-size RPM is right around 750, so as far as I can tell . . . everything is set correctly and should be working fine. Motor runs strong and pulls hard . . . it just seems to vibrate quite a bit more than the old 7-bolt used to. Only differences between this 6-bolt and the 7-bolt that I can think might contribute to the vibrations are:

-Prothane motor mounts
-9:1 pistons
-1g cams
-EVAP canister delete (hard-line has one-way filter, not capped off)
-PCV valve delete (from RRE) [http://www.roadraceengineering.com/instructions/catchcaninstructions.htm]

You guys think of anything I should check? Or something that might be amiss?

well the prothane mounts and the bs eliminator kit will do that.also a misfire will, but you didnt say anything about that.

Yeah . . . only time I got a random misfire CEL thrown was when the coil pack ignitor connector wriggled loose and caused her to fall flat on her face :toobad:

I guess this is why I dont really like making lots of changes at once b/c I never know what each one does

I'll keep it all in mind though and try not to worry about it as much as I go through everything and see if anything else may be amiss- thanks!

did you ground the wire before setting base timing?

Well since I have a 97, I don't think there's a wire that I can ground (please let me know if I'm wrong on this), but there's an option within DSMLink that essentially does the same thing
:D
