Should I be worried about my brand new freeze plug corroding? 4G63 non turbo. all ground straps are in the correct place (transmission to frame, starter grounded, intake manifold grounded, battery ect.) Been battling a rear main seal leakage so I've been taking the transmission off a lot and I noticed my lowest freeze plug has been leaking+corroding. Already put JB-weld and Red RTV to try to keep it from leaking in the past but at 500 miles its corroding now! (still leaking though JB-weld and red RTV.) should I be worried? (I could wipe away "most" of the rusty looking stuff off the freeze plug with 409.

Freeze plugs are exactly the same size as stock, not OEM freeze plugs. made in China silver colored, don't know which kind of metal they are. Weren't to heavy in weight. Got em from Schucks automotive.
any thoughts?

I just took the head off of a ford focus thinking that the kid blew a hg, turns out it was the freeze plug which had rusted all the way through. The head had to come of regardless but anyways the moral of the story is don't cheap out on something so simple. Replace with oe plugs. JB weld isn't such a hot idea because the plugs have a purpose. That purpose is to pop out in the event that your coolant should freeze relieving pressure and saving your block. I wouldn't JB weld it. I would pop that sucker out and press in a new oem one, but then again that's my opinion. I just hate working on a car that's been rigged up or fixing something twice.
