I bought these parts used.

The valve springs didn't come with any shims or seats. The original FP ad is gone but I found what it said through countless searches. It says the springs come with dual spring seats, but no mention of the shims. At least that I saw.

How is the seat different than stock? Is it necessary for correct operation? The FP spring fits into the stock seat like the stock spring does. Anyone have a picture of what it looks like?

Can I buy just shims? What size do I need? How many, etc.?

If I install them without shims, (again through search) I hear the recommended rev limit is 8K. That sounds like stock to me, and pretty much a waste of time. Can anyone deny this claim?

The Supertech site was little help.

I've emailed FP on the subject.

Thanks. :dsm:

Being as its a dual spring set-up, yes you will need the dual spring seat. If I remember correctly and I may be wrong on this but the FP Dual Spring kit is just the Super Tech kit rebadged. You might want to give FP a call on this, I'm sure they can set you up with some dual spring seats.

You're correct, the dual spring seats are required as per FP. They are also not available seperately. The seller said they sent me everything that they received from FP.

Now what? I apparently have a set of worthless dual valve springs. Ideas?

Shims and dual spring seats ordered. Guess I can add 75bucks to the total cost, but whatever. :rocks:

Now, on to shimming the springs for correct install height and pressure over the nose.

FP says:
FPCam2x. Dual valve springs required. This cam needs 280lb of force over the nose of the cam. When using STDuals, you will find that an installed height of 1.470-1.490" is needed.

What shim size did you use to achieve these recommended results?
