Found Shaft Play How Do I Fix It?

How much shaft play did you find? Some people seem to think that a little shaft play is bad. The fact is that a lot turbos have some shaft play. If you can move it up and down, side to side, and in and out then it might be time to rebuild or upgrade. Forced Performance has a great upgrade where they take a t25 and turn it into a t28. I guess it just depends on what you have now and what you want out of it. Hope that helps.

You cannot fix shaft play unless you rebuild the turbo. Do your research. You might find it more beneficial to upgrade the turbo instead of spending money on the rebuild kit. Good luck!

Because of the way turbos are designed, there should be VERY SLIGHT play up and down, but none in and out. If you have anything else than very slight movement, its time for either a rebuild or replacement. For the price, I'd upgrade to an evo III 16g...they can be had for a hair over $500 and the rest of the parts can be picked up for under $100. The power upgrade is night and day.

If its a lot of play, I'd stop driving the car until it gets repaired as the bits of your bearings will be floating around in your motor oil.

I Have no shaft play side to side up and down but i when i pull it out and in it comes out a little bit and back in? can i run a 16g with the stuff i have?

If the shaft play is excessive, and you absolutely have to use your car, you can disconnect the WGA arm from the lever on the turbine housing so that the WG opens freely. This will limit your boost to a few psi and give your limping turbo a break until you can deal with the problem. The car will be REALLY underpowered, but you can still drive it without hurting anything (other than whatever 3psi does to your hurt T25). Just make sure you're understanding what shaft play is normal and what is not; you might not have a problem.

Yes. You might ask around about whether your LICP will work (I'm not a 16g owner), but the rest is bolt-on - if you have the install kit. You might also ask about your intake pipe. Some intake pipes interfere with the WGA on the 16g.
