I found/or think I found a 6 bolt turbo block. The guy is asking $60 and it's just the bare block. Would this be a good thing to start with if I wanted to do a 6 bolt swap sometime early next year? What else would I need? And how can I verify this is a 4g63t? Does it look rebuildable from the pics?

found out one of the pistons are melted. I should be able to use my 2g pistons with the 1g rods right?

Unless it's cracked or the cylinders are bore/worn beyond repair. What's the crank look like?

Take a MIC with you and measure the bore before you buy it. I think its just a chance he'll have to take with the crank. Unless the guy will let you pull the pan off and disassemble his motor before you buy it hah.

Its only 60 bucks. Just visually inspect the block for any holes or cracks....I assumed that part was a NO brainer.

BUT if it was MY decision...I would BUY it for $60!
The Machine shop will be able to tell you if the block has any fine cracks.

I'm going to give a good look when I see it this weekend. But the guy said the it was rebuildable.

Why does that one piston look like it has been replaced, and the others look burnt?

Just curious...

I think it just looked that way with the pictures being too small. I made them bigger, and now you can see things a lot better.

That's not a bare block. It's a short block. If it was bare, you would need everything for it. I have a bare block with no crank, pistons, pan, or anything.

Yes it's a 6 bolt. Count the flywheel bolts.

Yes you can use 2g pistons on 1g rods...if you had a machine shop modify them to accept each other. No you cannot just drop them in and go. The wirst pin sizes are different. At the price to modify each piston, you might as well get forged pistons that'll fit right on with no modification.

For $60 you can't lose unless everything has a hidden crack in it and nothing is salvageable. But from the pics it looks salvageable.

Thanks for the info:thumb:

BTW- i'm not stupid, i knew it was a 6 bolt. And I found out it included enough to call it a short block just before I made the post, so I just got confuzzled with myself.

the T on the pistons indicate that it is a turbo, you should have it checked by a machine shop to see if you can just hone it and use your pistons, or if you have to over bore it and get new pistons. The crank journals should also be checked to make shure that it doesn't need a new crank.
