I have a brand new ACT 2600 clutch(street disc), with all new hardware and everything, and I also have a RRE lightened flywheel, that is practically new(bought from good friend). The flywheel had some light spray paint on it(overspray, i cleaned it up with steel wool), but should i have to do any re-surfacing of the flywheel before putting it with a new clutch? This is my first clutch install, and want to have everything new and ready to go before i tear my only car apart. Thanks.

A flywheel would only need to be cut if was warped or had deep grooves. Steel wool will have zero impact to the flywheels performance and should actually help during the clutch break in period (if you take it easy for the first 500 miles ;) )

Note that the RRE OEM lightened flywheels have already been cut once, so be sure to check the friction surfaces thickness to see if it can be cut again. A competant machinist should tell you this in any case :dsm:

Thanks, the flywheel is perfectly flat and smooth(with the paint off of it), i was just wondering if it needed to be a specific thickness for the clutch or anything.
