i need to do a motor swap in my 91 talon AWD TSI. but i'm not sure what the bolt patter is on the clutch and the flywheel. i know it has a manual transmission. the motor i have is out of a 92 eagle talon AWD TSI with an automatic transmission and i know it is a 7 bolt. i can't seem to find the right info i'm looking for. just wanted to make sure before i went and pulled both the motors and realized they have different bolt patterns. and also if the 91 does happen to have 6 bolt pattern, is there any way i can still do the swap?

The motor out of the 91 and 92 should both be 6 bolt motors You can do the swap either way you just need to get a flywheel that matches the bolt pattern of the crank.

that's what i thought too. but it turns out the motor in this 92 i have here is a 7 bolt. it doesn't have a transmission and i can see the bolt pattern and it's 7.

Your 91 motor is a 6 bolt. So you'll have to pick up a 6 bolt flywheel. Motors changed mid 92. I think in april to be more exact. Ever see 8/89 thru 4/92 when you got engine parts at a parts store, that's why.

Sell the flex plate, they are rare, and might bring you the money for a stock 7 bolt flywheel. :thumb:
