fluid for gear synchro problems

ok so i have a pretty bad 2nd gear grind if i shift too fast into 2nd and i kno its just a bad synchro. this one dude was telling me about something called GM Syncro Mesh fluid for the transmission and he said it'll make the car shift much smoother. he said they sell it at general motors dealerships. has anyone heard of this?

Syncromesh is good stuff and I used to use it in my 95 N/T. You can pick it up from a local Autozone under the name Pennzoil Synchromesh (same thing).

I just changed out the fluids last night in my GSX and used Redline MT-90 for the transmission and transfer case and 75W-90 for the gear lube. I have a very low clutch release so that I can launch well, and it used to give me hassles going into gear, but now it slips in like butter.

I think you'd be fine with either one.

I just put in the autozone pennzoil synchromesh last week and there is a night and day difference. Before I had to wait until the car was at a complete stop to get into 1st. Even then I had to shove it in. Now I can slip it into 1st while I'm still rolling. HUGE DIFFERENCE. Really good stuff, I give it two thumbs up.

man...you guys make it sound so great...i cant wait to get this stuff and maybe then my friends dont have to laugh at me everytime i take like 5 seconds to get into 2nd and by then they're like 100 ft ahead of me. will it help to the point where i can go directly from 1st to 2nd (as if when racing)? i'm really tired of getting owned by civics and nt eclipses when they're not even trying.

i just put the stuff in...but i dont really notice much of a difference, still grinds going into 2nd gear if done too fast or when downshifting. guess i gotta change the synchros to really get rid of it.

Yeah, it sounds like your beyond the help of synchromesh. Maybe you could give it some time but I doubt that will help. When I put mine in, it took about a half hour of driving to completely spread the new fluid and make a big difference.

I have done the synchromesh swap on two different 1G cars with mixed results. When I put it in a 90 Laser FWD it made a huge difference in shifting ease. I couldn't believe it was the same transmission. However, on my 91 Talon AWD, I really couldn't tell much difference. I wonder if there is something different about the FWD and AWD transmissions which causes them to react differently to synchromesh fluid.

It's Redline's synthetic. Just like Synchromesh is Pennzoil's. Whatever you do, don't try to use the Redline Shockproof. That stuff is like mud.
