i just bought a flame thrower kit for my ride. it's the coolest thing and u'll intimidate just about n e out there with it so i suggest u guys pick it up. but i noticed in 2f2f how their flame kits burned different colors. does n e one out there know how the hell to make these flames blaze out in different colors? i'm shooting for green in particular. thanks

Nice vids...but he isn't making more than alot of guys on here ;)

Yeah I'm sure there are a lot of faster guys out here and I'm sure they spent less money on thier engines to get that fast but you gotta admit that is sick taking a car that makes around 140 or so whp and then taking and adding another 110whp to that. in a car the weighs less than 2600 I bet she will scoot. And he is doing it all without the help of turbo or anyother from of FI at that. No doubt in my mine is this a 12 second car. 250whp in it would be like almost 300 in ours.

Not dissing the car...just pointing out the flaw in the logic of your post:)

I used to own a nice 92 Teg GSR.

no offense taken man It's all gravey:thumb: It's just crazy about how much money has gone into that car to get it to do what he is when all he had to do is go buy a 91 gs-x/ts-i and drop some money into it and there he would be. Personally I drive an 00 Integra LS. My friend (pcturbogs-t) has a 95 gs-t which is practically part my car also. And the teg will be a hybrid honda/dsm by the end of the summer if you know what I'm saying LOL. but anyway enough of me whoring this guys thread. go back to your flamming exhuast.

Werd..its all good in NC :)

Flame on, to the thread starter !!!

The flame throwers are ridiculous....BUT you could use it to ward off those pesky tailgaters or even heat yourself up a tasty hot pocket!
Bwahahahahahahah

uhm im not sure about changing collor in fi cars, but on cars with a carb the color changes by the mixture. i have a mechanic friend with a 10 sec NA nova and he tunes the carbs by turning his flame thrower on and making the flames the same color.

o and lando do you have a larger picture of what follows your posts?

My friend had flame throwers on his 71 Caddi. 4 pump hydro setup and 14 inch knock-off wire wheels. Looks good for show/ lowrider.

To naswer your ? which most peoplke seemed to ignore and just flamed you instead, a different color flame can be acheived one of 2 ways: having a separate gas supply which pumps into a hole in your exhaust pipe; certain gasses burn certain colors; or a strip if metal across the center which would have to be replaced a few uses or so; certain metals burn certain colors. I believe though that in the movie, color was probabaly digitally added to the actual flames. Hope this helped. :dsm:

Not only that, the entire flames were digitally added. Not to mention a lot of the cars in the action scenes are entirely digital anyway (cars don't fly, even with those ridiculous wings). Jeez, I could even tell from the commercials that it was mostly fakery.

It's a movie, you could add pink polka dotted flames if you wanted :)

Anyway, If you still want to make flames, and get in trouble with the five-oh, and make life difficult for the rest of the import drivers that try to keep low-key, then you'll want to do all the flame producing after the catalytic converter. Inject and ignite whatever you're going to burn right at the muffler tip. It'll keep the rest of your exhaust, and your engine free from whatever damage you're going to do. And different gasses burn different colors.

Hehe, I would love to have someone pull up next to me, start shooting flames, and leave them in the dust.

I do somewhere...Search around in the Photoshop forum if ya don't hear back from me :)

the only thing flame thrower's are any good for are BBQ's :D

Please don't put this kit on your car if you have an O2 sensor, your putting the car at WOT and shutting off the ingtion system with pumping all that unburnt fuel though system is in no way good.

Theirs one problem you haven't addressed. If you hit it at wot and you let off the gas with the spark plug lit it will throw the flame backwards and you can guess what will happen next.

Bye Bye engine and Bye Bye Turbo (if you have one) It would blow youe engine and may even travel to the pump and so on.

But it's your car so DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!! :thumb:

Also this is just a guess but the higher octane the bigger flame or more damage it would cause???

ok guys, im going to say this.

To each his own.. but flame kits realy belong on American Muscle not imports..

2nd not all flame kits work the same.. I have a friend that has a 86 Iroc Z28 he has a flame thrower but the engine is never cut to put the fuel in the exhaust. he just put a 2nd fuel pump in his gas tank, did some wireing and hooked two switch's under his dash.. one a flip one a push butten.. all he does is flip one switch wich turns on a relay and coil pack setup that runs a fast pulsed spark on a spark plug mounted in his exhaust tward the tip... infront of that he has a fuel injector out of god only knows what.. as you can guess the push butten is for the pump..just sprays fuel over the spark plug and BAM wow looky flames!...he just found out.. dont do it at idel LOL....

but even on our cars a setup like that would not be good for a turbocharged car as it would cause more backpressure and you would lose power.. but then if you only do it before a race or whatever i dont guess it matters...also im sure you could use other fuels or put some eliment like whatever that is in the green flamed butane jet lights in there to get your green flame... but you would need a good hunk od the shit and it wouldn't be green right off the bat it would go from yellow to green.. so im thinking the crap in 2f2f was either computers or some odd fuel..

just wanted to say thanks to every1 who actually gave me some helpful info on the topic. to every1 else, obviously there's some interest in the topic if others came after myself to ask questions. and from what i read from this thread, there have ben plently that have performed this job already.

haha umm if u have a friend that is a chemisry teacher or something. Ask them to get you copper sulfate. When it is passed through flame it turns it green. idk i would never do it but ne way....

I love how people talk shit about flames on cars. It's not your money so go cry like a bi*** and post on some other thread. To answer your question about colored flames they spray chemicals into your exhaust pipe. Like back in chemistry class where you burnt boron powder over a flame to make green glass. In the movie they used boron as the chemical to spray into the exhaust as they ignited the boron fuel mixed. They also went in and used computers to make it seem brighter. I wouldn't suggest doin this. My bud has a flame kit on his mustang and if you go with chrome tips you can change the color of the flame. He has flowmasters with an x pipe and is spitting out blue flames. If you are worried about melting you bumper (which never happens but some people like to be safe) you can get tips that are insulated so the edges don't get hot. Good luck on the flames hope they turn out good. Post some photos when you get around to it. Laters
