I've read that many front kit bumpers (esp. urethane ones) sag under the head lights etc. Why does this happen? What has been done the fix the problem?

I'll be buying a urethane bumper in a few days and just in case i encounter some sagging. i want to know what to do.

thanx for the info.

Dark paint colors collect the heat of the sun and cause the urethane to warp.

Well there is a pin connecting the stock bumper to a part of the body under the headlights, and when poeple take the stocker off, it a is a bi*** to get undone, let alone put back in properly, so many people just snap it.

So retaining the pins under the headlights should help then. What about cutting the factory bumper support foam to fit behind the kit bumper or welding a bar in its place? can this help against sagging?

thanx for the replys

I just put one on my car and it sags under the lights. I am going to take it back off and try to weld up some sort of a support that will help hold it closer to the lights. I have no clue what it will look like or where I'm welding it to yet, I'll have to take the bumber off first and see.

Well you cannot fasten the pin to an aftermarket kit because they don't put the pins on the body kits. I would try welding a bar to the metal under the headlight so you can slide the under headlight portion in between the bar and the headlight (small space if done right), then it should sag. I wouldn't worry too much about it. You might be able to see my bumper in my gallery, I've had mine on for a long time and it doesn't sag a great amount.
