The 14B turbo on my Laser RS-T has a nice fat crack in it on the exhaust side

I have a spare 14B turbo that I use for parts, I figured I'd just pull the Exhaust side of that and put it on mine because the one currently on my car has zero shaft play.

My Question is, will I have to have it balanced or anything if I do this? or is it just as easy as pulling the cracked exhaust side, and putting the good exhaust side on?

Thanks for help in advance!

if your talking just they housing itself then yeah it can be swapped without balancing.

I don't know why 95% of the population thinks you need to have a turbo balanced if you remove the housings.

You're not touching the rotating assembly, so there's no need to have it balanced unless you drop the turbo and break one of the fins off the turbine wheel while the housing is off.

I don't know much about Turbo's, and I've just heard on certain occasions balancing is needed. I didn't think I'd have to have mine balanced but I just wanted to make sure.

I'm still learning

EDIT: I looked at my other 14B that i have for parts, and there are some cracks in by the wastegate flapper. so I don't know which one I should have that'd be better. Cracked in the compressor area, or cracked in the Wastegate flap area.

any ideas?
