The tach on my 90 TSI was dead until I tried to connect a diagnostic tach to the tach lead under the hood, then it came alive yesterday morning. I was going to set the idle using the BISS screw procedure where you ground pin 10 on the ODB port and ground the diagnostic pin behind the battery then turn the BISS screw, but I never got that far. I connected an old diagnostic tach between the tach lead and ground, but that tach didn't even work. Next thing I know the dash tach works fine. Go figure! -Tom
