Fix for CW?

My friend's 97 GSX is starting to show signs of crankwalk. He's wondering if he can just swap in a new crank and thrust bearing to fix it. Will a 6 bolt crank fit?

A 6-bolt crank will not fit in a 7-bolt motor. You can either replace the thrust bearings in his 7-bolt and wait for crankwalk to come back, or swap in a 6-bolt. To date, there is no cure for crankwalk...only bandaids. If you get it, you've got it for good.

Yeah, I know there is no permanent fix. He just wants to get rid of it for a while. He wants to sell the car anyway. I keep telling him to just swap in a 6 bolt but he won't listen to me.

he will definately not get anywhere near as much money for the car w/ a crankwalking motor as he would w/ a good working 6-bolt in its place. It would actually be cost beneficial if he's gonna sell it, to swap out the motor.

To cure crankwalk, you'll have to find out what causes it. So far, I've not seen any one theory that I fully believe is the cause of all cases.
