Alright, here's the deal. I just got this thing put back together. Only changes are the FMIC and link, from the previous setup. Car ran fine before.
What I remember from tuning my old car, the drill was idle for a little bit, maf comp adjust, smooth out template. Free rev to get some light throttle, low airflow points, maf comp adjust smooth out template. Raise open loop thresholds, cruise log, maf comp adjust, smooth out template, repeat.
This got you close enough that you could drive the car around relatively trouble free, as long as you didn't go hog wild WOT all day.
Well, I did steps 1 and 2 yesterday, and the maf comp tool is telling me to pull A LOT of airflow out (like -24% or more). I do this and the wideband (which is wired in to the ecu, but is running on the gauge's narrowband sim output at this time. I didn't have Link at the time of gauge install, havent switched to the other wire yet.) Pegs lean and the car tries to stall, then it comes back alive, and swings all over the place. What gives? The MafComp tool has never steered me wrong before? I currently have the stock injectors in at this time as well, so I REALLY did not expect this much trouble getting a stock 1g maf/injectors dialed in (with the lower honeycombs removed as the only maf mod), before switching to SD.
Here is a short log after switching back to the "hacked 1g maf template" that would at least get the car to idle.
Just really confused at this point, pretty sure I am doing something wrong. What am I missing here?
