First DSM - 97 NA Talon

Finally picked up a fun, cheap stick shift car! 1997 Eagle Talon NA FWD 5M, Red exterior over gray interior. Car has 185,xxx miles but runs like a champ!

Paid $1800 for it, put over 1,000 miles on it since and couldn't be happier. Car has ice cold A/C, Kenwood CD player and AM/FM radio, new tires, clean interior, and clear title.

After I got a chance to check under the hood, I found it has a CAI already - The 'Intimidator' is written on the bottom. Also the car has a Pilot Sport exhaust, sounds good too.

Car has a large dent in the rear quarter panel if you are blind haha, but aside from that there's really nothing major I need to fix. A small list of To Dos is:
- Fix or replace sagging headliner
- New front brake pads
- Eclipse GS-T 16" rims
- Straighten up front bumper

Glad to be part of the DSM scene, lots of do it yourself work. Nothing like getting shit done on your own.

welcome, interior looks amazing for it being 15 yrs old you can probably find the qt panel at a junk yard with any luck to fix the rear end dent. looks good overall.

chances our its a 420a so he probably won't be boosting it. ppl have but its quite a bit of work easier/smarter to just buy an already boosted dsm stock.

Jesus, that bold section I highlighted makes you sound just like every car salesman I have ever talked to... are you a car salesman?

Anyways welcome, for the sagging headliner I found it way easier to remove than fix, easier and gives you more headroom (can be somewhat annoying when it rains though) beyond that looks like a nice solid buy. Keep your maintenance up and will make for a really nice reliable DD.

Haha I've sold cars before, but for now I'm a mechanic. Anyway took a look in the glovebox and found:

- Original owners manual untouched
- Original window sticker!
- Best of all, found a receipt for some work done on the car less than 40,000 miles ago..... previous owner did the water pump, thermostat, AND TIMING BELT!!!

Thank God for that, I can sleep a lot better now. It is a 420a engine, but still interference right?

Found the hubcaps and stuck those on, cleaned up the interior a little, and slapped on some new front pads. Failed inspection today for a goddamn gas cap that doesn't 'hold pressure' so have to get a new one. Other than that good to go!
