First carbon fiber quarter window surrounds!

Posted this on another forum, so for those that do not go to the "others" here is something for ya.'
I took some extra scraps and did a test run to season the mold and see how it would look. Didn't put alot of time into it and you can see the imperfections and some carbon strings got into the visible area. Didn't even bother to clear coat it!! BUT it took to the shape of the mold well and the bottom bracket even came out well. So the next set I lay up for Matt G. will be perfect. And it fits right up to the lower panels great!
Anyhow, is what they would look like in full carbon.

Ya I wanna know the same thing, and I hahve a question Leo. If i order everything you make for the 2G, and some one-offs, do I get a discount and get to be a featured car?

It is "one off". Only the guy that paid for the master molds to be tooled and I will have them in the car. He owns the molds and parts. Paid a pretty penny for it too!! See, my problem is that i already put the prices at what I feel is the lowest I would take. I don't post high and then hope for less. Eerything is done by hand and the more you order doesn't make it any easier, will take longer, and the pricing might come down a few bucks depending on what the individual orders at once. One off custrom work is never discounted though. Just standard parts if anything at all.
But unless my boy says he doesn't care if the are sold it will only stay limited. I am sure after he does some shows he'll lighten up.

...im kinda getting sick of the CF thing.. i mean EVERYTHING is being made out of CF, wheels, bumpers, every intoier piece, hatches, roofs, roof liner, etc etc...

i dont get how having somehting is CF is "cool" but it being painted or fiberglass or even a dash kit is ghey. i just dont understand why people must clean themsevles after seeing something in CF. i dont know, CF is cool and all, but please DONT KILL IT



if i make a 100% cf car id be pimp right?

Supply and demand basically. 3-4 years ago it wasn't as popular when I started, more just racers and most painted it or left it raw looking, just performance. Now days of course it is in big demand. Mostly what you see is also just cosmetic. Most parts that are performance oriantated will be done like patch work instead of one solid piece. Makes for a stronger part when the weave goes in opposite laying directions. But if you sold a part made in patch work folks would cry foul!!! It is all about the look.
And hell yeh you would be pimp if you did the whole car in carbon. But you still won't win, never will, someone will always hate it and scream rice.

actually there is a car that is 100% CF and it is pimp. the mclaren f1 has an all cf body.

there are mutiple exotics with carbon fiber body work, but there is still some aluminum in them.

Can you make me a CF Roof? Leave some metal bracing on the 4 corners so I can weld in my own brackets... and incorporate the side rails for supra window seals, we'd be golden.

Yeah they make everything out of carbon fiber. Its great we can choose exactly which parts of our cars are different, not just the hood. Im glad we finally have a variety, dont complain!

Tony over at "Top Shop" makes those. No need for me to make the mold since he already has them going...and they do look damn good. But I think the headliner is one area I am going to leave cloth. I have a little fiber optic idea I want to play with and the cloth headliner is perfect.
