I have been searching for an ecu that will work on my 91 (gsx, stick, turbo, ecu:md166262 e2t36578). I found this really hard to find the correct one. After a bunch of trips to the junk yard and hours of research I will now make a post. I found this site to be helpfull but to be honest.... now im actully more confused  From what i have read a 91 to 94 ecu, turbo, manual will work on mine. A 1990 will work if i do some wire swaps..( dont want to do that) I have looked at my production date(nov. 1990) now is my ecu a 91???or a 90? From the site i have a federal ecu. can a california one work?? some one please chime in. thanks Eclipse Talon Laser Galant 3000GT Stealth ECU ID Reference

Production of the 1991 model year cars started in June of 1990. So you Nov 1990 build date is in the first half of the 1991 models.

If your car started out life as a California car you'll have the California EGR with the EGR solenoid and EGR temp sensor. If you sill have it the California and Federal ECU will work, if you don't the California ECU will throw EGR CELs but the Federal ECU won't care.

Swapping pins 6 and 14 to use a 90 ECU takes me about 1 min and is fully reversible, you just release the two pins and move them. There are articles in the Tech Archive on how to do so.
