Finally got a motor in my car but....

So today me and dad finished hooking everything up for my new motor. All was well until we put the fuse for the alarm system in. The alarm continued to go off and would not disarm the way that the owners manual says to. I was really dissappointed when this happend b/c i have been waiting over 5 months to drive my eclipse again... Anyone know how to fix the damned alarm????

what type of alarm is it? you need to start there

Leave the fuse out of the alarm.
Drive the car a couple days without the alarm.
Get your wits back about you.
Tackle the alarm next weekend or something.
You need DSM therapy.

It's not serious yet, but should you cross the six months mark, (as I just did) you will snap and lose whatever is left of your mind. Funny enough, my new alarm is sitting in its box in the hatch for a couple weeks now. After spending much of the last two weeks getting the engine back in, finding we had a cam 180* out, pulling the engine again, redoing the timing (took us more than 50 tries since we were out of practice and the head had been milled), putting the engine back in, driving it three days before the flywheel bolts failed and put a hole in the bell housing, pulling the engine again, repairing the transmission, and installing the engine again, I've still got a wbO2, stand alone and alarm to install and I want nothing to do with any of it for at least a week or so.

Sometimes you just need a break, son.

This all happened less than three days after I finally drove her for the first time since Labor Day. This was last weekend. We got her back together again today and I've put another 50 or so miles on her tonight. I'm tellin' ya, it's more important than the alarm, man. Take a break.

i was going to say... the alarm isn't exactly a necessity... whenever mine acts up which has happened more than once i just pull the fuse and fix it when i have the chance.... just make sure you use the fuse instead of disconnecting the unit, my buddy did that and tripped his ignition kill which ended compounding the problem.

Damn, you sound like your in the same boat as I am. My car was down for about a week for right before thanksgiving. I got it back for 4 days and it spun a rod bearing on the saturday after thanksgiving. My motor is getting her either today or tomorow. I am about to go insane.

There are few things in life which feel worse than losing that which brings you sanity and peace. The shit I went through in the past year without being able to fire her up and just go for a drive... Damn. Harsh. The longer she is down, the better it feels when you finally get to take her back out on the road.

I agree with everything you said. It does suck when you cant just drive and get your mind off of things. My friend just got his BMW back after about 8 months and he has been in an ignorant bliss for 3 days now.

that is an understatment.....my dsm was down all last summer, then when i got her running again we had a snow storm .... but when i finally got to drive my baby again i was in heaven

All those plans were good but there is one thing.... It wont start without the fuse in... it disables the starter. Its no big deal now tho... I just yanked all of the alarm out and it works fine now.
