My car is in a motor swap and rebuild process and its down and therefore I have very little money to spend ( also since It needs a new tie rod, and cv axle and new struts im limited on spending )

But ive been thinking of what pump I should put since I am going to upgrade the pump and do the rewire mod while its down... Now I dont have a afpr and I wont have the money to get one for at least a couple months or more so I was kind of iffy about getting a 255. Despite that I would rather get a pump where Id only have to go in there once, and actually I was even thinking about getting the supra pump since it pushes a little more, and from what im hearing its quieter because I DO NOT want a loud pump.
Thats another reason I was leaning towards the 190 because I hear there quieter, and for my set up right now will be more than enough and will work fine without a afpr.

But If I had a afpr Id gone and get the supra pump, but since I dont have that, and because I dont want fpr over run is why I was just going to suck it up and get a 190lph with all said even though I know its not the choice of most ppl. but if you were me on a low budget would you just live and be happy with a 190 and not worry about the afpr, or would you get the 255 or supra pump and deal with fpr over run for several months until buying a afpr was possible?

( And how bad is fpr over run anyways... Doesnt seem like something Id want to deal with
but from the experienced what is your views of it )

Before you take any of this other advice I'd wait until the engine is in before you install the pump because most likely after you put the engine in, you will have some random problems and you dont want to have the feul pump be one of them and cause you to take something else apart to diagnose the problem.

With that said; If your really on a budget you could jusr re-wire the stock pump and it will be the cheapest and quietest solution. I dunno about the SUpra pump so I cant and wont give you any advice on that.

Honestly if your gonna buy a 195, might as well go for a 255. You can find one used in good shape.

no see Im starting as a n/t... I have no choice but to change my pump before I run that gst motor because "the n/t fuel pump has no business handling boost." So therefore me putting in a larger fuel pump is part of completing the swap... Now my other dilenma is that I would love to gone and get a 255 and get it over with, but the pros and cons I see over the 255 compared to 190 is

255 pros- Wont have to go in there again for bigger pump
Much Better performing pump than a 190

255 cons- May be too noisy from what im looking for
I Could do even better with a supra pump
Afpr needed, which I wouldnt have money to get for awhile

190 pros- Isnt noisy ( supposably from others experience)
Doesnt need a Afpr to be ran correctly
Wont cause fpr over run
Would be enough for my current set up right now

190 Cons- Would eventually have to spend money again for bigger pump
Isnt the greatest performing pump I could go for.

That is how I see it.... I just want your opinions according to what I think, and according to my situation
right now with not having the money to get a afpr, and I was mainly also wanting to know
how bad would fpr over run be say I put a 255 in my dsm without afpr... And also how noisy is the 255
because I hear its pretty noisy and the supras 260lph isnt.... Thats why after I got a afpr i was leaning
towards getting a supra fuel pump one day... Theres a thread in here somewhere on that pump.
Also, no matter the pump I get I will definitly rewire it... ( Shouldnt be too hard right?)

My walbro 190 is louder than stock. All walbro's are known for being whiny. I would just put in a 190 and call it a day since your on a budget. If you come close to maxing it out, that means you have done some major mods and can afford the bigger 255 and an afpr.

Is this a stock gst motor/rebuild or are your modding the engine? If it is stock the n/t fuel will suffice for now. Trust me when I did my swao I was to lazy at the time to craml under the car and swap in my new pump. I ran it with the n/t pump for like 2 months with no problems at all.

If your spending the money on a swap, why skimp on the pump.....your asking for problems.

I would just go with the walbro...most readily available and pretty cheap.

I have a 190 and I can't even hear it. If you have any kind of exhaust work done, it should drown out your fuel pump. The only time I've been able to hear my 190 is when I turn it on manually with DSMLink with the car off. That being said, just pick up a 190. Unless you're planning on going with a monster turbo (ie 60-1 or bigger), a 190 should suit you just fine.

I didn't pay hardly anything for my swap. I did it myself in a weekend and after spending that much time with the car I just wanted to get it running and was tired so I fired it up with the n/t pump and ran it for awhile getting the bugs out of it. I have since switched pumps but for a short time the n/t pump will be okay. I wouldn't be rainsing the boost or run it for a prolong time with it.

Hrm looking on eBay I see the cheapest Walbro 190lph pump (with 2g Eclipse install kit) is $95 shipped.

The cheapest Walbro 255lph pump (with 2g install kit) is $80 shipped.

What kind of AFPR do you need for the 255lph pump? Can you use those cheap $70 Megan Racing AFPRs?

You can get 190's cheaper than that through a vendor like ExtremePSI. Everything I've read about the Megan's is that they are very incosistent and don't hold a steady pressure. If you're going to buy an AFPR, get an Aeromotive.

Thats a first... ExtremePSI is the eBay vendor where I got that $95 shipped price.. but going to their website its $5 cheaper... usually its the other way around :p

started as a n/t look on my profile for mods... Mainly just internal rebuilding
and porting, and exhaust work and bigger intercooler pipeing, thats mainly the jist
of the mods list. Did you run the n.t regulator? since it carries 10 more psi?
If so what were your experiences with that?Good to hear you did the whole
swap by yourself, makes it sound a little easier for me now for some reason.
Maybe ill contact you if I get into any trouble with wiring :thumb:

Oh and Id only get aeromotive Ive heard about those mickey mouse fprs that arent worth nothin, and give you headaches. So far im pretty convinced that ill just stick with what I was going to do and get a 190. besides it would be a good little while before I put a bigger turbo anyways, that would be for like almost a yr Id guess, unless I found a good deal somewhere. And to be honest even when I do change turbos id more than likely be only upgrading to a ported 16 or 18g. And the 190 should be able to handle those two with the right sized injectors and tuning equipment, am I right? ....

And keymaster- as far as what u said ^ there, If the exhaust drowns out the whine of the pump then its ok, as long as its not super loud where it irriates me, and I hear it every where even when the music is on.

i kno but i like more than one opinion but thanks anyways, basically just confirming what you said, LOL.
I thought CanadianTsi's timeslip would have convinced you. :sneaky:

A 190 pump will be enough for what you need. If you don't want Walbro, get an EVO pump, I don't know if it will fit a 1G though. - http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231405

Evo 8 pump:
Volts PSI Amps Ltr/Hr
12.5 43 10.8 159.62
12.5 58 11.9 119.24
12.5 73 12.9 63.09
14 43 12.1 201.89
14 58 13 157.73
14 73 14 112.93

Walbro 190:
Volts PSI Amps Ltr/Hr
12.5 43 6 168.45
12.5 58 7 145.11
12.5 73 8 88.96
14 43 6.5 208.83
14 58 7.5 162.78
14 73 9.5 104.10

If you look at the numbers above, getting an EVO 8 pump and rewiring it would give you more flow than a rewired Walbro pump (in bold). The EVO pump does take more current though.

I used the turbo reg. I dropped the complete turbo engine in. As far as wiring I found it to be far eaiser and less time consuming to add the 4 wires to the exsisting harness. Just make sure you have all the electronics that you need for the swap. If you need help with where to splice or run wires to let me know I have the complete wireing diagram I made when I did my swap. Very easy and All wires run the way the factory ran them in the turbo cars. Also a 190 would be sufficent for what you would need. Expaecially if you are on a tight budget. And it only take about 30 mins to install the pump if all your bolts and fittings come loose easy. Just spray them down with pb blast and let it soak in. Don't worry about dropping the tank you won't have to. You can wiggle the pump in and out with out dropping it. Just drain it down some if you have a load of gas in. You'll need to drain it anyway and put 93 ocatane in.

Yea like the last month of me driving it as an n.t I only filled it up with 93 so that it would already be coursing through its vains LOL, and Yea i would like to see that diagram if its possible you could mail it to me on here or my aol email address is [email protected] because I am also just adding the wires myself I wouldnt have the time, money to pay someone, or do it myself patience to install a whole new wiring harness.
but any info You have and could email to would be appreciated. I didnt want to start a thread on this because a lot of ppl probly wouldnt attempt the swap and just buy gst or gsx from the get go,
I already have a couple print outs on info on the swap and what wires to run, but how and where they should be run is still what I need to know.
The ecu I have is a 1990 ecu and I am pondering will this work right in my 93, I know the instrument cluster will have problems... Currently Im searching for a 91 eprom to run it with.... What yr motor did you install, and what yr ecu.? Has your car had any problems since your swap, anything tips or advice to make it easier, or anything that was difficult?

ok i just purchased my 190lph Hp ( I guess the hp stands for a high powered 190 ) I bought it from lightningmotorsports.com Anyone every purchased from them? And whats the difference of the regular
190s and the high powered 190's? Just more voltage or something ?

My 92 gs that I just parted out actually had a turbo pump in it.From what I've learned from parting out is that 90's n/t's have a standard denso style pump, and the 91-94 n/t's have a smaller 2g looking pump, and the part number is a turbo pump.I cant find what the 90 n/a pump number is,but the one out mf my gs is definatly turbo, and I doubt its ever been changed before I got the car.Oh,and I went with the stock 3000gt vr4 pump in my tsi,it flows 180lph stock.

thats nice to know, but i dont think i would go anything lower than a 190... My next step from here is to get a 260lph turbo supra pump and call it a wrap, of course that would be after I get a afpr. I still need to know whats the difference of the hp 190lph pump applications opposed to the regular 190lph.

I checked that lightningmotorsports.com site, and they don't even list a 190 pump for DSM's. I'm 99% positive, as well, that Walbro doesn't make a High Pressure 190, or at least I've never seen one on any other vendor's site before.
