I messed something up. I broke adj. bolt on the Fidanza cam gear, and I have no clue what to do next.:( Would I be fine with only having 4 adj. bolts instead of five on my cam gear, or should I just replace it with a factory cam gear on the intake side.

I'm building a 2.3 with 280 cams. Please help me, on what I should do ASAP. Thanks, in advance.

I hate myself sometimes...

What to do next would be to replace that bolt. You bought the gears with the intention on being able to adjust cam timing right? Putting the stock gear on kind of defeats that purpose.

Call Fidanza, get a replacement or take a good bolt somewhere local that sells hardware/bolts/fasteners (whatever) and see if you can find a replacement that will work. In fact, might as well see if you can get stronger bolts. :) I remember reading the instructions that came with my gears and they gave a torque rating in inch lbs, not foot lbs (if that's what you thought and over torqued them).

Simple answer, just fix it. :) Don't use four bolts and worry every time you start the car, "will it hold?". That's just silly. So it may take a little longer to get done, you'll feel better in the end.

Definitely get the correct bolt and do it the right way other wise you might hate yourself again later :)

Also they came with 5 from fidanza so that must be for a reason so don't run it with 4.

A drill, an EZ out, and lot of PB blaster. A torch would help too. Or you could take it to a local machine shop and have them do it.

I think he is stressed about getting the broken bolt out of the cam gear.

No, it ain't that. Thanks, though. I just had my car sitting for like 6 months or so. And now I finally had 1 week off, vacation from work. And couldn't get the car done.:( You guys are right about it getting done the right/correct way, right now, rather then... oopps, what was that??? Thanks, I'll give Fidanza a call, and work it out.

Someday, I'll get it done. I won't give up:thumb:

If your cam gears are marked up to zero, they usually are, put both stock gears back on and never worry about it again.

He'll get alot more out of those 280s by increasing overlap considering he's running a stroker. A stroker can still idle fine w/ "tweeked" overlap and will alter the VE curve to better suit what a stroker can handle.

:) Not until after I posted. but, I figured what the he!! He knows what he's trying to say. And hopefully other's arn't as dense as I was at that moment:thumb: .

And my skull went deeper. Most guys just muck w/ the exhaust cam to tweek overlap. And his adjustable exhaust cam gear is fine.
