Sooo today with the help of my brothers I went to jump start my car to move it into the garage. I sat in my car while he pulled up his car and hooked up the jumper cables, thinking he knew what he was doing. First he hooked up the positive to positive..ok good. he then connected the negative to his car..fine..THEN PUT THE OTHER NEGATIVE ON THE SAME TERMINAL AS THE POSTIVE...or at least he tried to, I don't know. I tried to start my car and then I saw smoke coming out of both our engine bays. so what damage is done to my car? Is my ecu fried? battery cooked?

Did you try actually jumping it RIGHT? Sure it isn't going to charge hooked up like that, your lucky the thing didn't explode. Isn't jumping common sense? Anyways jump it right and if it doesn't work you f'ed something up electrical. Probably not the ECU more like a blown fusible link or something along those lines.

ok cool. I haven't tried starting it again yet because it's late where I'm at and my car's literally loud enough to wake the whole neighborhood up. and yeah no comment on how my brother thought that was right. i figured since hes seen me hook it up a dozen times he would know by now. ugh

try restarting it, I'm sure your ok, just be glad it didn't explode. You can search on here and find tons of threads on batteries exploding from something similar to this.

Be ready to replace many fuses/relays. Check for wiring which is now exposed from the extreme heat they could have felt during the connection. Most importantly, don't ever let someone who can't jump start a car touch your car again.
