I have a 1990 Eagle Talon, with a swapped JDM motor. I was told tht the boost was set at 18 psi. I haven't started the car yet to determine the actual boost. If the boost was set at 18 psi, what modifactions would be needed (have to HAVE) in order to run it? I am just curious to know what kind of internal, ported, and other misc. parts that I might have and not know. Please excuse my newbieness, I haven't dealt with Turbos very much. Thanks for your time guys.
 
If you had Walboro 190LPH fuel pump (rewired), and a boost controller you could run 16-17lbs of boost safely. You could run 18lbs also, but I would not recommend it.

Does the car have an actual boost gauge, or just the factory? If it has one just fire it up and take it for a spin, but untill you find out what fuel components you have in the car I would not run the boost up past 12-14lbs. You could start melting internals.
 
I've never run the 14B, but I thought 18PSI was on the high side....someone else would have to chime in.

Properly.....
At least a 16G turbo
Fuel mods...at least 550cc injectors and a 190 fuel pump (re-wired would be nice)
Some kind of cone filter
Better clutch
Bigger (at least 2-1/2") turbo back exhaust
Boost controller and a real boost gauge
Some kind of tuning device (SAFC, etc) for the injectors

Improperly....
Boost controller turned up to 18PSI and "let 'er rip!!".


However, boost numbers don't really mean much. Airflow is what's important. Hell I can push 18PSI out of a little T25, that's until it starts to fly apart. And I still wouldn't have the airflow of a 16G at 15PSI.
 
I have a "poor-mans" boost controller, and upgraded clutch( not quite sure, haven't looked yet) turbo-back exhaust, Autometer boost gauge, K&N Air Filter. Fuel-Pump and Injectors???????? Not sure if these have been replaceed or upgraded. And a stock turbo as far as I know.... I was told the car was running at 18 psi, so I was wondering what mods would be necessary to run it. Mainly to figure out what exactly I have under this mysterious hood of mine. I can post pics if needed.
 
I don't plan on running at 18psi, yet. I am just curious to see if you guys can tell me what modifications are necessary for someone to do so, so that I may be able to realize what parts I got here. Just so I know where I need to go, you know?
 
are you asking.. what parts to you have possibly installed on the car that enables it to
run 18 lbs of boost ? just a MBC would do the trick on 1g-

the first question is correct. Whats a MBC?
 
The first thing you are going to need is a logger.

That way you can see what your engine is doing at all times during a run. You might be able to run 18 psi (every car is different) but I would not do it until you can learn to use that logger.
