Fast Naturally aspirated GS

I just bought my GS, and I am in research mode also. Depending where you live if you can get 93 or 94 octane fuel you should be okay. engine management is my only concern. the turbo guys seem to have all kinds of fun stuff to tie into their ECU's.

I don't think it will be too hard I ran 11.5 comp on the street in a 16V GTI. I still had the Bosch injection on it. But that was a nasty solid cam motor. I drove it everywhere, it functioned as my DD for 2 years, and lots of valve springs and timing belts.

I would think with the EFI 11:1 would be fairly safe, If I can get 160 at the wheels I'd be happy. Then add spray. 50-80 horse. I looked at the 2.4 swap, and it seemed like alot of trouble, for the small gain. I'm digging the GS mainly because there is a whole lot more aftermarket support wether it be Turbo or N/T. Plus I can't go real crazy since I drive 4-700 miles weekly for work. 34 MPG is great. I'd sacrifice 3-4 MPG for 40-50 more HP. :thumb:

its all about air flow when making power going the NA route (plus a little compression)................ starting from going in the engine................. a k&n filter with a velocity stack inside coupled to a 2.5" intake pipe, going into a 60mm mpx throttle body, mounted to one of my short runner intakes, bolted to a race ported head (mine of course ROFL) that has some big cams in it (along with upgraded valves springs) that will then go into a custom LT header with a 4-1 desigh that utilizes a merge collector that then dumps into a 2.5 header back exhaust. lets not forget the high compression pistons 10.5-12.5:1 whatever u like and then theres also an udp and a lightweight flywheel that will help u get up and go faster and one more important thing.............an engine management system to control it all. throw in some race gas and some bigger injectors and ## ready to throw down around 200 whp in naturally aspirated trim. im sure theres some other things i left out but u get the idea.

And you know what Mike's going to say to that, right? Mark does have my stuff and he's over, :p

Yeah yeah LOL. I guess it all depends on how effective the q45 is at higher rpms. We all know that his manifold owns the obx.

lets not forget that you have stage 3 cams and 12:1 and idle like a corvette with a 454 LOLoLOL A 200 hp NA car that owns all other eclipse NA car is the shit but to most a 2gnt that you can't drive on the street is like Eva Mendez with a penis... a dam waste of a great platform LOL j/k

You're a trip, Slippi! LOL

Mark's NA idle is indescribably painful. I'll wager he'd wish it would idle like a BBC - but then again, it's a race car, and Mark doesn't race at idle.
