No, keep the ISC however - it's better to use it to control idle.

I've eliminated my FIAV along with the coolant lines. The other day it was 18*F, car started right up. Only thing you gotta do is keep your foot on the gas to keep the idle up for warm up.
I also threw in a block heater so I won't have to worry about letting my car warm up before driving.

great idea, i may consider doing this with a universal style unit. Great for cold winter mornings, especially up here in ontario!

Got mine from napa, just tell them your make and model, make sure it's a 35mm and install it in the correct orientation. I think it was like 2-4 O'clock. An hour of it being plugged in on a 20*F morning my coolant temp was 125*F.
I'll have to see how long it needs once we get into the REAL cold.

My car starts right up and idles perfectly in zero degree weather with FIAV block off. I take it some others wont idle high enough and die out? That seems kind of strange.

Mine will rough start some times and I'll have to crank it twice. But when I have the block heater plugged in I have zero problems, plus it's nice not having to wait for the car to get to my ideal temperature before I actually start driving.

For $20-$30 you cant go wrong. I found a link somewhere on how to block off the FIAV without using a plate, only bad thing is once you do it, there is no turning back. Basically you tap out a little freeze plug on the back of the FIAV and screw the valve in until it bottoms out - thus blocking all air flow.

Another solution is to buy the FIAV bypass plate instead of buying the blockoff plate. Using the bypass plate will allow you to still use the ISC to control idle while eliminating the leaky FIAV and coolant lines. This method, I feel, is a better solution than eliminating the FIAV altogether.
