I am looking to take out my stock radiator fans and replace them with two slim fans and I was wondering the best way to mount them. So here's my question: Should I mount them side-by-side on the back side of the radiator like the stock fans or should I put one in front and the other on the back?

Puller fans (like the stock fans) are inherently more efficient, but either way will work fine. If you're concerned about space for a custom turbo system, etc., then go with the pusher system (both on the front side of the radiator).

Just make sure that the fan blades are facing the right direction. You'll probably have to remove the fan blade and flip it around to make sure it's doing what you want it to.

You can put engine cooling fan in stock location and the AC fan in front of the rad. The problem with the one in front is , that you can't put bigger fan than 10"/keep in mind, I have 1G car/. You will have to measure first and see what is the right size. Flipping the blades won't help you much. You have to reverse the wires. This way it changes direction fan blows and makes it from puller to pusher and back. If you put both fans in stock position, later if you need some room for bigger turbos, IC piping, external WG, etc; the AC fan will allways be in a way. So it is up to you.

Actually, fan blades are unidirectional... it is imperative that you flip the blades. Reversing the wires only makes the whole assembly rotate in reverse, not necessarily moving air in the right direction.

I fit two (2) 12" fans on the front of my car. I had to do a little hacking to get them to fit, though. I would suggest a 12" fan for the passenger's side and a 10" fan for the driver's side if you don't feel like cutting a little plastic.

So are you saying that I should put both fans on the part of the radiator that is not in the engine bay that way they will push air against it or put both on the engine bay said to pull air off?

I'm saying the puller setup is inherently more efficient, but your could do either. Go with pullers if you're concerned about overheating, and go with pushers if you need more space.

Ok. Since they're slim fans I will still have more room in the engine bay than i did with the stock fans and will have enough room later to put in a turbo kit right?

It depends on the turbo kit. Most kits are meant to fit with the stock fans, so you should be ok... especially with the slim fans.

Here ya go...

How much hacking? I plan on running two 12's on the front just like yours.I don't want to spend two hours hacking away to make room for them, But i dont mind trimming some here and there.

It wasn't that bad... just a little trimming with the Dremel and clips. You also have to bend the PS cooler and AC lines ever so slightly. Be careful not to break them, though!

Also, make sure you rotate the blades by hand a little bit before completing the electrical connections though. The fans should sit flush against the radiator, but there should definitely not be any rubbing. If the blades touch the radiator they can rub a hole right through it.

Looks good! I do plan to put a turbo kit on the car but I don't know how long until I get there since I am still a student. How would this setup look without the intercooler there? would you be able to see the fans through the front bumber?
