Was wondering if you have a failed balance shaft bearing, and it appears in your oil, does this mean the block is garbage? was reading that most likely the rod bearings, oil pump, main bearing will all be damaged. is this always the case?

Is the block junk? No. Are the other engine bearings trashed? Possibly. Can you continue driving the car like this. No. Unless you want to replace the engine.

Balance shaft bearing material in the oil is BAD. Tiny metal particles are in the oil pan. Those tiny particles are being sucked up by the oil pump and are being pumped to the filter. When the filter reaches the "clog" point things are gonna get real bad in a real big hurry. Feel lucky you have it where ever it is and not sitting on the side of a 4 or 5 lane Interstate Highway, (like in Houston or Dallas).

When it comes to fixing this problem, its all about at what point you caught the problem.
The sooner the better.

Park the car (till fixed) and tear the pan off and pull (1) rod bearing. If (1) rod bearing is showing excessive wear marks, then get ready for a complete re-ring/re-bearing job., and just go ahead and do it. When you do that you will have the opportunity the elimnate the balnce shafts. Its a pain to get the BS bearings on the front out while the engine is IN the car, but you can do it. You can even put the BS bearings back in with the engine IN the car if you good.

If any parts look questionable along the way, its best to replace them while you are there. (timing belt, tensioner, water pump, oil pump, gaskets, ect)

Sorry to hear about the problem.

well, check out what happened to me tonite. Im in the process of removing my bshafts. I got everything apart, im ready to press in the new bshaft bearing.

Apparently, my bshaft bearing blew out and the bshaft hogged out the journal and the new bearings are too small to press in. I'm thinking, great, now I have to build myself a 2500 dollar motor. There is no way that i'm doing a stock rebuild.

The oil pickup caught the little pieces and my oil pump is fine. I have to have a blockoff bearing or else I will have real shitty oil pressure. A guy I know said the same thing happened to him and he used a rubber expansion freeze plug from napa and it works fine. He makes over 500 hp and has 5k miles on his motor.

I'm going to do the same because I dont feel like spending all my money on a motor build. If I can postpone my build for one summer for 3 bucks, then I'm going to do it.

My car drove fine for 2 years and I ran at the track and beat the piss out of my car the whole time. And the whole time my balance shaft belt was broken and the bshaft was rubbing inside all over the place. Never could tell, my car runs great. Now it should run even better.
