alright i already kissed one motor goodbye due to not having one what do i need to hook one up or make it. i obviously cant be cool like evo guys and switch to another tune with dsmlink but i was thinking that i can maybe find a way to down the boost to wastegate pressure????

let me know what you guys think

Yeah I worry about this too. I'm in a spot due to my high compression and wanting to boost. Only way I coudl think of would be like if you had a ecltric boost controller and the failsafe cut power to that so that yrou setup only ran of the spring so say you had a 15psi spring and a ebc set to like 27psi when you run out of meth or something goes wrong it cuts the power and you will only run 15psi.

You're failsafe should be your knock sensor.. If the meth cuts out the knock sensor should pick up the knock and retard timing.

I dont fully understand it all yet but I will do some more looking into what was done on my car.

Basically I had English Racing install my met setup while they were doing additional work on my car. Lucas highly suggested using a solonoid to dump boot if there was a malfunction with my meth kit.

It is a AEM kit and is wired so that if there is ever a problem it will open the wastegate to relieve boost.

Edit Finally got home and could take a pic of what im talking about

my buddy says the only real thing you can do is buy a gm 3bar map sensor and use that. he says their is a way to wire it up so if the meth pump doesnt kick on that it will make the wastegate run wastegate pressure. ill keep you guys informed...

That'sexactly what I said in a nut shll. If something goes wrong you run whatever the minimum psi you can which is the spring. So if you have a controller hoocked up and you usualy run 25psi when shit hits th fan and you have a 15psi spring that's what it reverts back to.

never said you were wrong. my car suffers from bad phantom knock so i disable the knock sensor so that i can actually run timing. call me stupid but my stock motor lasted 2 years with constant abuse and 23psi. the only problem with it is that if i start to knock it doesnt back timing down. i want to find away around this...

The AEM kit I am using has a out put that is tied into the silonoid in my picture that allows it to dump boost when there is a error or lack of methanol in the tank. And yes it will only allow it to run off the wg spring. I will be heading to the dyno in the next week or two and will have a chance to talk with the person who installed my setup and get a better understanding of how it works.

meth is one of the best mods i have ever done. its also one of the worst failing mods also. it might take awhile but whenever i get back on my feet again ill start buying all the stuff i need to make a fail safe...

I'm pretty sure I know how that boost fail safe works from looking at it. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

The boost source line goes into the piece(I will call it the sensor) that came with the meth kit. It has two more spots for vacuum lines on the sensor. The line for when the meth is operating properly goes to the mbc. The other for when there is a problem with the kit just goes to a regular vacuum line. These two lines are teed together and connect to the wastegate. The sensor has something like a valve inside of it that can block the pressure from the boost source. This valve will be in one position (we will say open) when the meth is acting properly. It will be closed when there is a problem. When in the open position it lets the boost source pressure go to the line with the mbc. When open it is blocking a hole that won't let any pressure to the regualr vacuum line. This will let the mbc function normally so you will run whatever boost is set at. When the valve is closed it will block the line going to the mbc and open the hole for the regular line. This will bypass the mbc and let the pressure from the boost source go right to the wastegate. So now you will be running off the wastegate pressure.

Like I mentioned before, somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
