Is it possible for the factory am under my passenger seat to support one or 2 12" Sub or do I need to get another amp. I am on a budget so anyway I can save money is a must.
Also is there a way to tell im my factory 6x9's are blown or do they just suck?

if they suck they're probably blown since my stock ones were great until they went out. the stock amp would suck running 1 or 2 12's. definately buy an amp that is made to power subs.

To the original poster not a chance....

I have anothe sort of related question though. Has any one replaced the factory unit with an aftermarket amp using the original wire pack? Spliced and diced up of course.....

you got to be kidding me? spend a few dollars and get an amp that can push the subs

Chill out not everyone has moeny to throw around.
I recently went through this whole thing, I work at an aftermarket shop so it made things MUCH easier but you can get decent "bump" without a lot of money. Dont get hyped up on Brand names. :thumb:

No.

But there is good news. Search for the old Punch amps with true wattage on eBay. Good quality for a low price.

The factory amp doesn't so much suck, per se, but it's meant for a consumer-level, slightly-upgraded, grown-up user.
It doesn't have enough guts to impress a kid who's impressed by lots of loud, repetitive, monotonous, trim-rattling noise.

Since when is rock/jazz/blues repetitive, monotonous and noise? That music has bass notes too ya know..... :(

True. But I've yet to ride in a car that needs bass boosting. Mostly you need power to bring the high notes up far enough to surmount road and tire noise.

Thanks for the help everyone who posted info relevant to my question.

If there are any audio experts here can you tell me if I need a harness of any kind to replace the blown rear speakers?

I am getting pioneer 6x9's.

No, you don't need any kind of harness to replace the rear speakers, you can just simply use the old wires or replce the speakers wire if you feel like it but other then that just remove the old speakers and put in the new ones. :dsm:
