Great!

I got a Mitsubishi Lancer (EVO 4) with engine 4g92 1.6 16v 1997, exactly this one!

http://www.snetcommerce4.com.br/ecommerce_site/arquivos1450/arquivos/116_117_F4A41_F4A42_F4A51.JPG

The problem is that is does not clutch any gear, when engine is cold, then it clutches weakly for about some feets and stop, at this stage the light "N" in the cluster blinks ..... blinks.

IT IS NOT THE FLUID, I REPLACED THE FULL FLUID BY ATF.

IT IS NOT THE TORCH CONVERTER, I ORDERED A NEW ONE

IT IS NOT THE SOLENOID,

CAN SOME ONE TELL ME HOW TO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION DISCS? I STILL COULD NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE PISTONS CLUTCH THE GEARS IN THIS TRANSMISSION!

HOW TO CHECK IF THOSE DISCS ARE BAD?

I did opened the transmission and replaced the torch converter for a new one, I cleaned inside, BUT HOW TO PRECISE DIAGNOSE IF THE DISCS AND CLUTCHES ARE FINE?

HERE GOES THE PICTURES OF MY DISASSEMBLE:

F4A41 - F4A42 MITSUBISHI LANCER 1.6 (HYUNDAY AND OTHER CARS ALSO USE THIS TRANSMISSION)

CAN SOME ONE TELL ME HOW TO PRECISE DIAGNOSE THIS TRANSMISSION?

All those cars use same transmission!

LONG TIME WITHOUT USING THE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS GREAT TECH SUPPORT ... ONE OF THE MOST BETTER PLACE FOR DSMERS THAT CRUCIALLY SEARCH FOR ADVISE AND HELP, THANKS DSMTUNNERS FOR HAVING THE WONDERFUL WEBSITE.

After replacing the internal discs as it was completely wasted, it worked fine for about 5 months, then again it does not clutch nothing....

I remember I could hear the "click" in the solenoid when changing the gear position in the gear switch, but now it just does not shift nothing, I cannot hear the solenoid "stall" and when measuring the voltage in the solenoids, it just does not come nothing ....

The strange issue is that on cluster dashboard, it shows the led on every moving shift, p - n - d - 2- l

the leds in the dashboard shows properly, but out of it .... it does not get energized any solenoid in the transmission f4a42 and the car just does not ride.

I've made an illustration about the circuitry bellow and it seems that the fuse "03" and "13" are the ones responsible for transmission tcu and clutch solenoids ... am I wrong?

It may be also the 97-04 MITSUBISHI NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH PA66-GF15, but not sure and I am going to test it in order to see if there is energy.

PLEASE, ANY FRIENDLY TECH BUDDY WILL BE AMAZING HELPFUL, I AM GOING TO PUT MORE INFORMATION DURING THE DAY, BUT ANY INFORMATION ON THIS PROBLEM WILL BE REALLY APPRECIATED.

Did you replace the seals on the pistons, check specs in the pump, and clean the internals well? The transmission needs to be free of any debris on the inside.

Yes! everything is cleaned and clean! now I am suspecting the A\T Relay as the picture bellow, can some one tell me if this relay is from mitsubishi lancer 1997 f4a42 transmission control????

I've ordered the complete kit for rebuilding this transmission from cobra transmission .... all the seals, gasket ... disc kits, everything including the retainers......

97-04 MITSUBISHI NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH PA66-GF15, tested and working great, it seems that by my knowledge, I may be wrong .... but this part when it is broken it does not show on cluster the leds changing when you shift the position.

Good news for me and for people that like this f4a42 transmission! I found where the problem is located ... IT IS NOT NEAR THE CAR CORNER AS INDICATED, IT IS UP TO THE LIGHTER ....

THE FACT IS THAT I REMOVED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL RELAY AND IT ANSWERED GREAT, IT RIDED TO FRONT, BUT AFTER SOME METERS IT JUST STOPPED THE TRACTION AND I COULD ONLY RETURN BACK HOME ON THE "REAR" SHIFT POSITION .... WHEN I REMOVE THE RELAY NOW IT ONLY WORK THE REAR POSITION, WHEN I INSTALL BACK THE RELAY IT DOES NOT SHIFT NO GEAR ...

I SUSPECT IF MAY BE ONLY THAT DIODE SHORT CIRCUIT OR IT MAY BE SOME FUSE AROUND SOMEWHERE OR EVEN ANOTHER RELAY ....

THE RELAY I AM TALKING ABOUT IS THE ONE TO THE TOP OF TCM IN THE ILLUSTRATION, "IF I PLUG IT IN, THEN NO GEAR WORKS .... IF I REMOVE THE RELAY FROM THE SOCKET HARNESS, THEN IT ONLY SHIFT THE "REAR" GEAR .... AND THE "N" ON CLUSTER BLINKS ....

ANY IDEA? NOW I AM SURE THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS PERFECT FINE, IT IS SOMETHING ELECTRICAL.

Fuse cover mr203829 for inside top cover fuse box and mr203446 for engine compartment ... Can some one tell me the legends for those fuses and relays??? What link does it have with the transmission f4a42???

one relay if for ignition system

second relay is the fuel pump

third relay is something (when removed) only shift the "rear gear", when installed back it just does not shift nothing .... (the shift must be on "r" when the relay is removed to shift ...

Here is the fuse boxes, ofcourse the pictures is from internet, but it is exactly the same ... Then, i would like to know all the relays responsible for automatic transmission f4a42, one relay is up the tcm "single relay" ... But, for what is the reason for that relay, why when i disconect it shift the "r" gear and when i connect it does not shift nothing?

WELL, HERE WE ARE, I GOT THE INFO OF RELAYS ...... NOW ALL I MUST DO IS TO TEST THOSE RELAYS AND CHECK IF IT IS WORKING PROPERY ALL THOSE ARE BELLOW, CAN SOME ONE COMMENT SOMETHING PLEASE, I AM JUST GETTING WORRIED TO BE TALKING ALONE, PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ME ALONE!
