well finally after a month and a half finally got my transmission and its all bolted up and whatnot just have to get my inspection cover to bolt up so my starter works properly. But now that its done its time to take car of the problems with the car before this major malfunction. my oil pressure is pegged to the high end. thinking it might be because of my valve cover, the bolts are still striped and oil still leaks. but that would lead me to beleive i would have low oil pressure since its not a good seal. HELP!!

Yeah, I wouldn't blame the valve cover. Have you removed the piston squirters or Balance shafts? Have you tried to port the pressure relief valve? What oil are you running? AND, when's the last time you changed the oil/filter?

just had an oil change not even 200 miles ago and with that came the filter or course. i havent touched the pistons or anything inside. not sure what that pressure valve is and im running just plain 10w-30

about 2/3 down the page on this link are links to pictures of what must be done. There's a how-to somewhere around here, I saw it when I was having HIGH oil pressure issues.

I'll look for the How-to. It's basically taking off your oil filter housing/braket, and porting out one of the passages.

Honestly, I don't know. I haven't yet done it. I have a new Oil filter bracket for an external cooler that I'm waiting to put on. I'm gonna do it to that before it goes on. I imagine the porting itself is relatively easy (just do it slowly and carefully) The pain is gonna be actually removing the bracket and putting it back on. Maybe somebody else can chime in and tell you more about the process.

Is the pressure only pegged at the top while cruising, or even at idle? Do you let it warm up to operating temps?

Hope somebody else can chime in and help.

its pegged all the time. i think maybe the sensor might be broken or electrical problems and its just getting too much voltage but im not sure though because it could be something with the oil. and yeah ever since i put in my trans ive been going out and starting and letting it idle for a little bit. and its still pegged.

I had the same problem when the wire that goes to the oil pressure sensor was stripped of some of its covering and it was shorting out on another piece of metal down there. Just something that I have experienced that would peg the oil pressure guage.

My oil pressure gauge shows me having a bit higher than normal oil pressure. It's not all the way at the peak but it's half a peg higher than half way on the meter. I think i'm havin this prob due to a little too much oil in the car.
