Ok... so i found out the PTE 50 will not creep with the cut divider, but will lose power up top. This seems like a lose lose situation to me... either i lose power up top or boost creep  I decided to grow a pair and just go external gate. I did some searches but still have a few questions.... (1) They say that the springs only go upt to around 20 or 21 psi or so. How do u run higher boost? Can u stack springs? (2) I was thinking about stepping up to a new exhaust manifold with this change. Would i be better off getting a tubular manifold like the DNP manifold flanged for mitsu and an external gate or getting an Evo 3, port the hell out of it and weld a flange for the gate? (3) I like my dump tube sound and would liek to dump with the external gate. Can i just have an exhaust shop fabricate the dump tube or do they sell them for the external gate? (4)Im planning on getting this new manifold and gate setup and still using my 14b until i get the cash to pick up the 50 trim. With my 14b will i just weld the flapper shut to run the external gate?

Sorry about all this... i just wanted to tryand get it all out in one question instead of multiple threads. Thanks

I guess I'm lost. Did you try the 50 trim without the cut divider before? With a similar setup, 50trim, wastegate re-routed into the exhaust; neither the cut divider or non-cut divider turbo should make more power than the other. The exhaust gases are all going to the same place. So when you say you lose top end power, is that compare to a non-cut housing, nothing else changed? You talk about o2 dump below. So did you go from an un-cut housing with o2 dump, to a cut-housing with o2 re-route back into the exhaust. In that case, then yes, I can see you losing top end power. But why are you boost creeping in the first place. Aren't lots of people running 50 trim, un-cut housings, and o2 dumps and not creeping.

99% of external gate setups dump to the atmosphere anyway.

So are you not running the 50trim now? I thought you were by talking about boost creep and top end loss above.

From what ive read... the 50 trim with the uncut divider will creep at lower boost settings (16-18 ish). The solution is the cut divider. This cut divider will cause turbulence in the exhaust and cause a loss of top end power... from what ive read. If i can get away with 18psi and no creep with my dump tube and uncut divider i will go that route... otherwise im just going to go external gate.

I say just bite the bullet and get a DNP manifold with the mitsu flange and run a 40mm tial. That way you can (1) Buy a uncut turbo thus having a turbo that is more efficient with more potenial (2) Not ever have to worry about boost creep (3) Be able to run whatever boost level you want...high or low. In regards to your question about wastegate spring the number on the spring is the minimum amount of boost you can run, I am going to be running a 1bar spring (14.5psi) and just use my boost controler to set what boost I want above that. I see the extra cost of a external worth it in the long run but that is just my opinion, choice is really up to you.

Yea I would go with a external also. I would put it on the manifold collector area not on the runner like you see others doing thats just going to work for that runner. I would go with a DNP header with the WG flange alreay welded to it. The locaton of the WG is very important for it to work efficently. The 50 trims like high Rs and boost so the external is the way to go absolutly. :thumb:

good call. did the same set-up. but i got the .8 bar with an mbc. tial is removing their 40mm line btw. so its either going to be 38 or 45. sux though

Many people run 50 trims with internal gates and uncut housings and do not creep. I ran a 50 trim with an uncut housing and internaly gated and did not creep. I could hold 10 psi till redline, and that is with a full 3 inch no cat exaust. Dont believe everything that you read bud, proper turbine housing porting will take care of any and all creep issues.

With a boost controller you can run up to twice the spring rating....15psi spring can run 30psi max, 15 psi min.
