External gate question

I have a T3/T4 that I am going to run an external gate off the O2 housing. The wastegate hole on the turbine side of the turbo is only 20mm. I am running a Tial 40mm gate, but will I have to worry about boost creeping on me? Thanks

If I was to pose a guess, then Yea, you'll have creep. I know I did and my hole was slightly bigger than that.

I don't think you will have any creep my friend has the same set up but with a deltagate and has no creep. But if you have it apart I would port the hole out. I ported mine on my T3-4 it only took a few minutes. But I ended up with the wastegate on my manifold.

hey if i have the turbine housing welded shut with the hks external gate on the downpipe, will i get boost creep? i think im kinda having creep right now. just dont know what is casuing it. thanks cuong

Aren't you suppose to keep it near the manifold for easier boost control?

20mm does seem a bit small… But if you are using 40mm wastegate you do not need 40mm opening leading up to it. WG is much more restrictive than a plane opening of the same size (whatever that size happens to be).

My guess is that you would want at least 28-32mm hole.
