Somebody want to explain this to me? The manifold mounted WG makes good sense to me, however, I see people are also mounting their WG's in the O2 housing. It seems as though the same problems manifest when you use the same hole that didnt work with the stock flapper (it is too close to the turbine wheel?). Anyway, cant see how the O2 placed WG's function and would appreciate some insight. Thanks!

It works the same as a internal gate except the flapper isnt in the way so it has a bigger opening. I dont see that big of an advantage to the internal gate but its easier than getting a new manifold.

With the o2 mounted wastegate you can port the hole that the flapper used to cover. This will make it control boost better than an internal gate. This is a cheap way of controlling boost and, to me, not the correct way. To me the correct and only way to do it is off the manifold, off the collector being the best.

Incorrect methodology, but sufficient or are problems still rampant with the O2 based externals? Great answer, thanks!
