External wg hotside drilled for o2 housing ew

I have a slowboy 20g with the wastegate port welded shut with a plug and would like to run my ew off of my o2 housing. Can I drill out my hotside and remove this plug easily or am I gonna have a bad time and f*** up this turbo by doing so? Boost creep ect..? Or will it not flow correctly through to the o2 housing if I just drill right through the plug and or pop it out? I believe there is more material behind the plug that is smoothed out inside the turbos hot side inlet and im worried about f***ing it up in that area and not creating the correct flow path.

Is it possible to just find another hotside that has the wastegate port open and swap it? I've never had a 20g before, but to me this makes sense as an option.

That's what I was originally looking for but idk who has one and how much of have to spend on a new one, not trying to dump any more money into this turbo, would rather sell it at that point and run an FP green hta or fp red hta since they're on sale and would be ideal for my build. I've already got $440 into this big 20g.

If you can pick up a new turbine housing for cheap, I would go that route. Drilling out the wg port on your housing will be tricky, as the housing is cast steel. If you're careful, you could probably get away with it. You could also look into running your wastegate pre-turbine housing... Basically it comes down to how much $$ you want to spend. If you're thinking about a different turbo anyway, I would maybe just wait a while and go that route, as it will involve less headaches.
