*UPDATE*

Well I finally got my engine last Saturday (Aug 9th). I was pretty mad that it took so long, since I was suppose to get it for the DSMshootout.

When I got there I was going to have them install my cams and timing belt. Mike looked and seen that the cams werent any good. So he took the cams off an engine of his and also the timing belt tensioner. The install took about 3-4 hours, so I had to wait around for that. I thought it was very cool that he offered to help me out like that.

All in all, I dont think slowboys has the best customer service I have dealt with. That could be because they are so busy, and cause they moved. However, I do like the fact that Mike is VERY helpful and always seem to do whats best for the customer and not his pocket. Even though the turn around time on my engine was so slow, I think that dealing with mike makes up for it. I would go back to them for my other parts, hopefully a turbo soon :)

I would give them an: 8.5/10

yea, mike comes around locally. I have a lot of friends that have dealt with him and all love his products and service. He is a good DSM guy. I just hope he doesn't get carried away with his new Neon (LOL LOL LOL)

THERE SHIPPING SUCKS! I HAVE BEEN WAITING 2 WEEKS NOW FOR MY TURBO

Actually.. when I have to wait for parts... unfortunately so does the end user. A well known company got back ordered on 12 mm banjo adapters.... which I need for the install kits. I tried like crazy to get them here faster, but to no avail. So, in turn you had to wait a few extra days, and for that we are sorry. Your shipping amount will be refunded.

I have to echo everybody else's comments about Mike, he is extremely helpful and patient.......but, I ordered an install kit over a month ago and am still waiting on it

I do have one tiny issue with this, and this may not be the place... but since you asked... You bought a turbo and install kit from us, but say we forgot to send the WHOLE install kit? And this comes a month after I shipped it? Am I correct here? Call me in the morning and ask for me please so we can figure out why I just here about this 30 days later!

So he took the cams off an engine of his and also the timing belt tensioner. The install took about 3-4 hours

This stuff can happen... especially when we get wires crossed. I assumed you would be bringing the cams, motor mount, rockers, and lifters. I took apart MY OWN CAR so you could have lifters, rockers, t belt tensioner. You were quite patient with me while waiting for your motor, and I sure do appreciate it!

Overall, we have been a little slow over the past two weeks. With the new shop, me not functioning at 100%, new employees to train.... things have been tough on us. I sincerely appreciate all of your guys support, and look forward to helping in any way I can.

Regards

Mike Huml

hmmm my turbo took almost 2 months I got called a douche bag for inquiring about the extenuated time table and once the turbo arrived it blew up in a matter of 200 miles.

I guess some stuff is common and some stuff is not. Pick you're reasons it looks like the normal wait time expressed those involved in this post is between 2-10 weeks for anything from them, pick your reason.

PS: i have a free slowboy built turbo if any one wants to see some of slowboys quality work. It has the optional loose bolts mod and spinning turbine housing mod at no additional cost:thumb:

Well, I guess since the *site* sponsor ass kissing is over. This thread will be locked/deleted. Remember boys and girls only talk Good about venders here because any factual non advertisement reply's will be removed. Kind of one sided but who cars, a day in the life of a dsm'er Feel the breeze

Well, you are a douche bag. I don't see what the problem of him stating the obvious is:confused:

Oh, and I met mike at the shoot out and he seems to be a real cool, down to earth guy. Oh, and I'll probably buy a set of 15Gs from him this xmas:shhh:

Well Mike I've actually been in contact w/ you since about 2 weeks after the original order and all I've got in the e-mails is that you'll be looking into it and according to the last e-mail:Seth,

I will call you today so we can find out what the heck happened.

I was to receive a call about the install kit but never did receive that nor another e-mail. Personally I wouldn't say this is the place either to discuss this but I'm still waiting for an e-mail or call and you responded first to the forum. Oh and just to clear up any confusion I only purchased the install kit from you. Mike I'd appreciate it if you could get back with me through my personal e-mail and so we don't have to clog up the forum w/ our business. Thanks.

Not only ddi I get a great upgrade without realizing it, but I got the whole $5,000 worth of setup I am running now in a very timely matter. It was even during the middle of the MOVE!

A very great company, with great prices, and awesome customer service. Candy Huml has ALWAYS gotten back to me about an order within hours of an e-mail. Hell, she has got to be online all the time, with the speed of her responses.

Mike, this is Chad Howell, I hope you got to look at my dyno after the install. I appreciate everything you have done for me. Next, is a HG and ARP studs along with that clutch I have been asking about!

I went with a local guy and they were WAY overpriced!

2 Thumbs Up!!

You should of pushed him to the ground and pumped 10w30 in his face while saying "wheres my engine? wheres my engine!?" LOL

j/k;)

I went up to their new shop not more than a week ago and for all you guys that are complaining about slowness, I can see why it's a bit slow right now (even though everything I've ordered has come the next day LOL. The whole store is kinda a mess right now because they just moved. I'm sure it'll be back to normal soon. I didn't get to meet Mike while I was up there cause he was on the damn phone, but I got to meet some of the employees. All cool guys, talked with them for a while and bought some syncroshift. I also got my big16g from there which is awesome so far.

great dude, you can find more of those guys at www.gay.com for ya :thumb:

AirPopOff....Pot, Kettle,Black? ring any bells there?

JDMAWD: Are you saying your turbo failed because the bolts on compressor housing and exhaust housing were not tight? If that is indeed what you are saying it because you are supposed to tighten them yourself AFTER you clock the turbo the way you want it.

Apparently DSM vendors should start putting warning labels on everything, like McDonalds puts "Caution: Very hot" on cups of coffee.

SBR = :thumb:

Great customer service, great prices, respectable company (which I consider more important than prices), fast shipping, and knowledgable staff. Just a few things I've experienced so far dealing with SBR. They did a great job on my GT10 and Mike's port work on my 2g o2 housing was awesome.

I have purchased 2 other 50 trim turbos and none had any loose falling off and MISSING parts as they were pulled from box. the compressor housing bolts were not an issue, because i had to as you stated clock the housing anyway. The big center clamp was the problem for my turbo. with the clamp as tight as possible i could literally hold the center section in one hand and spin the turbine housing with the other. Once I got back from my road trip I pulled the turbo and noticed that the back plate was making contact with the turbine wheel and oil was on the exhaust wheel.

It looks like most here have purchased 16G turbos, i guess that's pretty hard to #### up considering they come straight from China to a box then shipped out to the customer. im sure you could train a monkey to put a turbo in a box and hand it to the ups guy each day.

If I had to guess at the cause for my turbo failure. Id have to say Huml simply ####ed it up because he was pissed because I held he responsible for keeping his word in regard to how long my turbo rebuild would take. Its funny how may customers don't reply to threads like this. I went to pick up a trans on the Maryland Eastern shore yesterday.

As soon as I got out of the truck the guy was like what do you think about SlowBoy Racing. Same situation, richie called up the shop, asked about having a set of 91 rods machined for 95 pistons he was told two weeks he got his rods back in two months. He even supplied all the parts:laugh: Id say he has the perfect name for his bidness

I agree it should read something like buyer beware. Give me your money at your own risk. Shipping dates and times are at the venders discretion. We are not responsible for proper operation of the products we sell or filling any turbo order with the correct wheels and parts.

yea i have delt with sbr twice now never will again. took them 3 weeks to get a set of cams and retainers to me after sed they were in FL and take 3 days. Then later figured it was a mistake ordered my second act 2600 since my first one threw a spring. Ordered and shipped out date was a 12 day difference i even asked how much over night was i needed my car back. Then recived the clutch the pressure plate WAS OPENED it wasn't shrink wraped to the board anymore. and they swear they NEVER opened the box. SO HOW DID MY BALANCE SHAFT ELIMINTOR KIT GET IN IT. I HATE SBR

Yes, we opened the box ( to put BS elim kit in), but did not unwrap anything. We also offered to take that one back, and get you another. You said no.

If you asked for overnight shipping, you must not have liked the price. It was a while ago also, but I think we were waiting for a piece to the BS elim kit.

Not sure what cams, but assuming you were the Crower nightmare... I cannot control how fast they ship their product. Did you get them right from Crower? Which is in California?

Sorry you have to "hate" us... You seemed fine last time we talked!

Sloboy racing: I would give them a thumbs up:thumb:
Mike has always taken the time to awnser questions.
All parts that I have ordered from SBR have shown up within a reasonable amount of time, and in good order.

No vendor has a perfect record with all customers.

JDMAWD
Perhaps you should lighten up a bit
I seem to remember you having a bit of trouble with your cylinder head/camshafts/cam housing diameters, and no one got on their soap box and ripped you a new one, for your obvious failures there.

I just think that one can state their opinion (in this case) about a vendor, be it good/bad or somewhere in between, without getting involved in bashing, name calling, and what not.

Actually the root cause was I had the oil lines crossed on the permacool filter relocation kit. At any rate good call, to add insult to injury my turbo came back with the wrong compressor wheel in it:laugh:
