I was just wondering if anyone knows any place to get 3" stainless steel exhaust tubing kits for the 1g AWD that are not pre-welded. I have access to welders and a family member who has been welding for 30 years and want to save myself some cash by doing it myself, but don't want the hassle of having to figure out the correct bends for all the pipes. I found a 3" s.s. exhaust tubing kit at www.vrsexhaust.com, pre-bent, but I emailed them to find out exactly what is included in the kit (flanges, downpipe, etc.) and didn't hear very much back. So if anyone else knows a place I can get pre-bent pipes that just aren't pieced together, it would be really helpful.
 
It seems like a great company, but it doesn't look like they have what I was hoping for. Maybe I didn't explain correctly. Basically what I am looking for is a company that sells turbo-back exhaust for a 90-94 AWD T/E/L that is already pre-bent to the correct angles for the car, and just needs to be welded together and put on the car. It seems like they have different mandrel bent pipes you can cut and create your own exhaust, but not exactly what I need. Thanks anyways though! :thumb:
 
VRS includes every part that you would need to build the exhaust, just as if you bought it prewelded together from them...

Thanks a lot everyone, very helpful! And 98TalonTSi, that's good to know about VRS' kit. I just wasn't sure if it included flanges to put in a test-pipe or catalytic converter because it didn't mention anything about that on their website. Thanks again everyone.
 
That would appear to be just cat-back, which is why I think I'm going to get the entire turbo-back SS kit from VRS for less.
 
The VRS stainless steel turbo back is 800 dollars, and to say they have shoddy customer service would be an understatement. You can be rolling with the Kteller stainless 3" catback for about 400 with a muffler, and their customer service is second to none. A downpipe and testpipe or cat shouldnt and wont cost you 400 bucks.
 
Actually, from VRS, the 3" SS Turbo-back is only $200. Like I said, I'm getting a tubing kit with pre-bent pipes, not an already welded up system, which is what you are quoting for $800. As mentioned before, all I'm looking for is the pre-bent pipes and I'm welding it all together myself. As long as their customer service is good enough to get the pipes shipped out to me, then I'll be happy. I've seen some other people with the kit and they didn't seem to have many problems. :thumb:
 
How does the downpipe section fit? They told me you need to provide your own flexpipe, cat (if you're using it) and muffler/tip. Anyone else have one of these? Pics? Thanks a lot!

VRS's 3" SS kit is $280 bux total for the turbo-back tubing kit. (its $80 for the DP kit)

I got their tubing kit for my car - i was in same situation. I got mine pretty quickly after I paid them and I didnt really have any problems with them. Best thing to do is call the guy up. He is a little slow answering emails. Their kits come with flanges, hangers, & gaskets and reducer for the DP. Altho, if you are planning on doing full turbo back, you'll have to go on ebay and buy yerself a flex section like this:

AAANYWHO yeah, call the duder. who cares about customer service? its piping...they guy shipped it like the day after i paid him, so it was straight....ALSO -- you have to talk to him about the DP kit, since they arent listed on the site.
 
make sure u get a flex section if you did it, vrs wants 40-45$ more for the flex in the tubing kits, which is a must IMO.

if you want to save a super fortune, you can make a turboback with 10-11ft of straight tubing, and 3 90* bends. 2 90's around the gas tank, and 1 for the DP.
 
do you have any pics of yours? Especially around the downpipe. We have a wirefeed welder that can do up to 1/4" but I think I need the gas kit? Anybody know if i need the gas kit or not? Thanks!
 
Right, but do i need the gas kit? I've welded a little bit but never stainless. Any tips?
 
you do not need gas nor a tig to weld stainless steel. If you wanted to use stainless steel wire youd need gas, but just use flux cored wire. Itll work just fine. Ive welded SS shit countless times with a wirefeed using flux core. Works perfect.
 
yeah like i said.....i dont know a whole lot about welding....i guess just find an ss piece of scrap and try it....
