exhaust question sprouted from boredom

ok, im bored, and have no clue why i was thinking about this, but i see a bunch of cars in my area with dual exhaust, except its a pipe from the cat spilts into a y into 2 mufflers. i know the y makes an odd restriction and also means nothing performance wise on an I4. however what if i took a dual outlet muffler, welded it to the outlet on the cat, and welded a pipe from each outlet to opposite sides of the rear? seems to make sense to me, no odd y restriction and "dual" exhaust look, but its technicly still single exhaust. and if you have the sudden urge to type ZOMFG YOU RICER in the quick post box, dont, becuase your just ###.

Are you going to the look or the sound? The look would work, I don't think the sound should be that much different.

From the sounds of it, I think it would actually work.

Dual exhaust isn't ricer-ish at all. I see a huge cannon of a muffler as more ricer-ish. Dual exhaust gives it that almost clean but aggressive look.

i am more going for the look here, not the sound. i prefer a more quiet tone to my exhaust. i think 1g's look pretty damn mean with dual exhaust, not sure if i would wanna do it to a 2g though. and ya, i wouldnt think it would be rice at all, its just 2 pipes sticking out, not 2 giant coffee cans that make my car louder than a ####ing jet.
