exhaust manifold leak

Ok my manifold has a crack in it or there is air leaking out of the seal, but my car is incredibly slow. Will this cause that, is it almost like my boost in blowing right out into the air.

You got me perplexered. Is your car non-turbo or turbo? I'm just going off of what your profile says.


If it's a turbo, any leaks that happen before the turbo, such as a cracked manifold, or leaks at the flanges will seriosly affect your turbo's performance and increase spoolup time. Replace that cracked manifold, and use new gaskets to ensure no leaks, and you should be okay.

oo ok im sorry i forgot to change that I have a GSX... you think i should just get another 2g manifold since my car is bone stock? or tubular or SBR

A 2G manifold will do just fine. Tubular manifolds at this point would be unnecessary and in my opinion are for folks who are looking to squeeze that last tenth of a second out of their 1/4 mile times. Work on getting your car up to speed before you start working on making it faster.

The turbo doesn't pressurize the exhaust manifold so it isn't leaking any boost. It is leaking exhaust gasses though which are put to use spinning up that turbo. A leak or crack in the exhaust manifold will increase the spool time of the turbo hampering performance.

Unless it is a huge crack it is most likely not the main problem with your car but a contributing factor. Time for a tune up.
