Hey Guys

I wanted to get an exhaust system for my 94 Talon ES (non turbo) and I heard different opinions on how big I should go. I wana go from the exhaust collector all the way back and cap it off witha nice magnaflow straight threw wide open muffler. Now the question is how thick should I go with the exhaust pipe. 2 and 1/4 2 and 1/2 or 2 and 3/4. I wana gain as much mid and upper range power as possible but I dont wana loose back presssure i.e. lower-end power.

2.5 your big enough to run a turbo or nitrous yet small enough to have it NT.

So you guys are pretty sure that if I go to a 2.5 inch straight pipe exhaust with no resinators or catalytic converter I won't loose any back pressure even witht eh wide open exhaust. And if I ever decided to buy a scrap Talon TSi and put it's turbo in my car or maybe a 50 shot of dry NOS the exhaust would still do the trick. Cause my mecahanics teacher told me I can safely go 2.25. 2.5 would be pushing it. And the muffler shop guy told me tha I would need no bigger then 2.25 and even with that I should run a resinator I think thats BS but yah2.5 seems nice. Any tips on a good wide open cheaper muffler?

well if your going no cat, then thats a different story. your gonna loose alot of your low end then, but get some good high end power. i think you would be better off with a high flow cat now and 2.5 inch exaust. a test pipe is only completly beneficial with turbos, where all back pressure is created by the turbine

so my 2 options right now are high flow cat and 2.5 inch. Or test pipe (no cat) and a 2.25

ok I dont mean to sound annoying but ive gota know. Would it be a wise option to go witha 2.5 inch exhaust right now and stick a resinator in to keep some back pressure or do I have to go witha high flow cat. Because a resinator will cost me like $50 and I can just rip it out if/when I get a Turbo. But a Cat will cost me quite a bit more and if I do get a Turbo then it would be wasted money. So what I'm saying is 2.5 inch exhaust sounds great but first of all could I live with the lost back pressure ie low end power with just a straight pipe no cat or resinator. Or if I wana go for 2.5 and I have no Turbo or NOS then I absolutely have to run a Resinator or A Cat.

Thank you very much

its really whatever you want. if you can live with no low end power, then go for the 2.5 inch with a testpipe and get a decent gain at the top end. if you want low end, get a high flow cat.
