I keep having an issue where my exhaust bolts keep backing out. they are the bolts holding my V Band adapter to the turbo... Ive tried Loctite.. no go, after an hr or so of driving and a little boosting, i notice the bolts have backed out a little, and cause a leak, i can see my wide band ditch lean b/c of the extra air...... The gasket is an "perma seal" aka aluminum gasket.. paper always fall apart.

I used the high strength high temp locktite..

They are a beveled bolt, with a flat head, so using lock washers isnt an option.

any tips?

here are the parts (minus that 90 degree bend)

There are two reasons why your loctite is not working. First your bolt is probably plated steel and this requires the use of a primer. Granted the normal temp loctite blue and red has come out with a primerless version but this is not so on the high temp stuff yet. Try using a loctite 7090 primer (don't use the prism stuff). Let it dry should take under 10 min then apply the thread locker (it cures anaerobically). Second you are probably using the standard high temp 266 or 272 which is good up to 450F but I bet its getting hotter then that. When loctite gets hot enough it returns to the liquid state. I would use the loctite 2620 and that will reach a temp of 650F. Be warned though you will have to heat the bolt to 650F to get it off again. They make a medium strength that you can torque off (blue) in the 650F, it's number is 2422. Let it cure for a FULL 24 HOURS ON ALL HIGH TEMP THREADLOCKERS! I hope this helps.

Ps if it seems like I know a lot about loctite its because I'm a loctite distributor :D.

i am pretty sure that the turbine housing and downpipe flange get above 650F. Conventional threadlocking compounds are not going to do much for you.

Yeah I wasn't sure how hot that gets sorry.

Well over 800F just at Idle... upwards of 1300-1400F under boost...

Seems like if the Bolts didn't have that type of shoulder,
You could put a lock washers on to keep pressure on the threads to help keep them from backing out...

Im going to try A: longer ones, or B : go with out a gasket .. see what happens. but yes ^ over 800 Deg..

I had the problem of my v-band adapter on the downpipe kept backing out too, I called Hahn and asked them about it, they said that they don't recommend using a gasket on that mating surface. I ended up just getting new bolts from the hardware store and just kept tightening them down, eventually they stayed. So take it for what its worth. :shrug

A local store called Bullis Hardware, it used to be Ace Hardware. Same bolt from Hahn is like 8 bucks, at the hardware store its 87 cent. :thumbsup
